Proffesionally restored 280sl in original thistle green with contracting dark green / green leather seats.
This is my other half's car which i have been given the task to sell - lovingly restored but pretty useless with our latest arrival (as is most of the other cars we own/ owned not exactly useful baby chariots!)
very good condition. new genuine merc wings fitted (£480 each without paint or fitting) and full respray in original colour by award winning bodyshop at great cost just over a year ago(photos available of the resto work).
Recent soft top by previous owner and comes with hardtop.
with a little bit of work this car could be show car standard (the paint and panel fit really is that good!)
drives like new starting first time on the first turn
fitted with imobilizer and pioneer cd player
comes with £200 280sl fitted outside car cover
good points - no rust at all! and mint paintwork
no leaks through the heater plenum (real pain to fix! and costly!)
no oil or water leaks!
bad points (pretty minor in the scheme of things!see photos)- scratch on hardtop - glass in hard top delaminated a little around edges. more modern 15 inch alloys fitted - would look better on period 'mexican hats'. could do with new carpets as old ones are grubby (cleaned up ok but spoil the mintness of the paintwork - £200 buys a full set of quality ones)
I will sort a new full mot at the asking price and 6 months tax (following deposit taken)
dont take a risk on a cheap car with slight rust - from experience slight rust normally means new wings / sills etc etc all adding up to a fortune! buy the best resently restored car to save a lot of bank breaking chasing of rust - it hides well in these old beasties... a small touch up tends to cost a small fortune (we have receipts to prove this theory!)
the car was previously merc owners club valued 5 year ago at £15k with recent owners comprising a local solicitor owner - then air hostess (family friend) then us - i really dont think they had realised the degree or rot! I did and sorted it for good!
realistically priced to sell for this coming summer
Wedge of history from previous owners including valuations, original supplying dealer stamps and the original 'production data' white slip from the merc factory!
