Description
Hi, this is the last and best of my classic cars i am disposing of, i acquired this Cortina a couple of years ago and started life as a one father and son owned 1500 super,
The Cortina had been dry stored for 19 years in a nice dry warm garage, ermine white and almost rust free, it very nearly developed a green stripe as i looked at it.
Bodywork:
The Cortina had new wings and front panel fitted before it was put into storage, So no problems here, it still has its original rot free sills and floors, the car was stripped down to
its shell, some small repairs and alterations carried out and treated to a £2000 re finish, brand new bumpers are fitted.
Mechanical:
The Cortina now has a 2. 0 8v D. 0. H. C engine, 5 speed gearbox and a 2 piece prop shaft with centre bearing taken from a one elderly owner, 70000 miles Granada chosen because
it had covered the same mileage as the Cortina, a new clutch was fitted before installation (Fits good doesn't it) it looks like it grew there, a brand new capri radiator is fitted and
purpose made strut brace, Diff/ back axle is a reconditioned 4 . 1 unit.
Brakes:
Up-rated big callipers, high performance grooved discs, Girling servo all new brake lines, hoses and shoes fitted(brand new).
Suspension/ steering:
Front lowered and stiffened springs(25 mm) re-tempered leaf springs fitted with lowering blocks new shock absorbers and inserts.
rack and pinion steering is fitted (reconditioned unit).
Wheels:
Brand new super light alloys and tyres are fitted. rear 13 x 7, front is 13 x 6.
Interior:
New headlining, (visors covered to match) new door cards and quarter panels, original seats recovered to lotus pattern (by Richfield Seating, Mansfield) New carpets throughout bound in British racing green, green inertia
reel seat belts, dash full lotus style with alloy fascia full instrumentation, a period radio is fitted(crap but just for show) a descent fm/ cd is fitted out of sight in the glove box, a period steering wheel and gear knob is
also fitted.
Electric's:
The cortina now has negative earth electric's / alternator and 8 fuse fuse-box
Sum up:
In my opinion the only thing that would give this car away as not being a lotus Cortina would be if i pinned its V5 to the car for all to see or factory Lotus Cortina tried to catch it(it runs 140BHP) its smoother, quieter , more responsive,
and is actually nice to drive, it gets more attention than an e-type (i know i have owned one), do i have to mention reliability, i believe you could drive this car all day and back without fear of snapping its crankshaft or something
equally alarming and expensive and of course runs on unleaded fuel.
It has its original number plates fitted, original hand and service books etc and surely must be an excellent investment for the future and a car you can drive and enjoy without penalties. The price i have set on the car does not justify the
18 months of hard work and expense lavished on it, First come first served, thanks.
