The Appeal
The MGA marked a bold new direction for the Abingdon marque. Inspired by a streak of streamlined experiments in the sports circuit, this new roadster's sleek, aerodynamic bodywork was a world away from the upright T-types that preceded it. Today it remains one of the most desirable and recognisable British sports cars of the late 1950s and early 1960s, thanks in no small part to its impressive legacy. This is where the great British sports car really came into its own, changing the landscape of motoring forever.
This 1960 example, finished in Old English White with a red interior and matching hood, was originally built for the US market and spent most of its life in Washington before being returned to the UK for a comprehensive restoration. That work included a full engine rebuild and conversion to right-hand drive.
Since 2022, the current owner has continued to invest in the car, fitting a Mazda MX-5 five-speed gearbox and maintaining it with care - keeping it in a moisture-controlled garage and using it only in dry weather.
