The Appeal
The W111 cabriolet was built with such care and was so expensive to produce that Mercedes could only manufacture 13 to 15 examples per week. The marque thus produced only 2,729 220SEb cabriolets like this fine example. Magnificently constructed and richly detailed, it's hardly surprising that this elegant creation by Paul Bracq became one of the most sought-after Mercedes of the 1960s.
This elegant white-on-black example has returned to the market following extensive restoration work carried out a few years ago and has covered very few kilometres since. The work notably involved removing the engine, which received a full overhaul, as well as replacing the fuel pump and injectors. The seller states that the car runs and drives very well.
It also presents in excellent condition. Some caution is advisable when purchasing these cars, as refurbishing elements such as woodwork and leather can quickly become expensive. Fortunately, this example presents at a high level. The interior is in excellent condition and the recently resprayed white paint, along with its numerous chrome elements, is also well preserved.
The car will be sold with a recent MOT and is registered in France with a registration document. image.png1.96 MB

The W111 cabriolet is as much an automotive work of art as it is a means of transport. The charm of these cars lies in their details, whether it's the exterior body elements, the stacked headlights or interior appointments such as the chrome, dashboard design and original Becker Grand Prix radio.
