The Appeal
The Volkswagen Type 2 T1 split screen is among the most coveted of all classic vehicles, and right-hand drive UK-spec examples with a Danbury conversion are particularly sought after. This 1966 camper has been in the care of its current owner since 2006, during which time it was professionally restored by The Old Dub Shop in 2008, work that included new lower panels and a respray in Titian Red over Beige Grey. Originally finished in Sea Blue and later resprayed to Mouse Grey before the current ownership, it now wears a handsome two-tone livery.
Since the restoration, it has been garage stored and regularly serviced by air-cooled specialists, covering around 12,000 of its 81,886 indicated miles in the current keeper's hands. The Danbury conversion retains all of its fitments, and the van has been deliberately kept as close to factory condition as possible. With a voluntary MOT valid until May 2027, this is a split screen that can be driven and enjoyed straight away.
