The Appeal
Hugely popular with small businesses and found throughout the UK in period, the Morris Quarter Ton (6cwt) Pick-up is now an unusual sight. This Series III model from 1967 therefore represents a rare opportunity to acquire a fine example of a British commercial stalwart. The Pickup married the familiar front end and rugged mechanicals of the much-loved Morris Minor with a separate chassis, telescopic rear dampers, stiffer rear leaf springs and lower-ratio differentials, to suit its load-carrying purpose.
This vehicle benefits from the later, larger 1.1-litre engine that produced 20% more torque than the 1.0-litre unit it superseded. The seller, who has owned the vehicle since November 2021, describes the powertrain as smooth and quiet, with trademark Morris Minor exhaust note.
The exterior of this pickup is finished in a mid-green gloss, complemented by cream wheels. The chrome work, including door mirrors and wing mirrors, is bright. Behind the enclosed cab, the pickup bed features black frames, over which fits the beige canvas with plastic windows. A February 1969 tax disc adds a period touch.
The charming, simple interior is free of modifications, and features the characteristic large speedometer in the centre of the dashboard. The seller states that all instruments and controls work correctly.
These vehicles are loved not only for their looks and charm, but also because they are simple to maintain and repair, with most parts readily available. This delightful pickup is ready to transport a new custodian back almost sixty years, to a gentler, less complex time. image.png1.51 MB
