The Appeal
The YR1 Grand Prix holds a special place in motorcycling history as Yamaha's first large-capacity production machine. Launched in 1967 with a 348cc parallel-twin two-stroke engine and race-derived styling, it was a rapid motorcycle in its day, with a claimed top speed of 110 mph. These are increasingly sought-after machines, and good original examples are not easy to find.
This particular YR1 is presented in unrestored original condition, retaining its standard specification. The vendor describes it as a fantastic-looking motorcycle that rides well and is surprisingly capable. Imported from Japan and now on UK plates, it has been dry stored and little used during the current ownership.
