The Appeal
It's common knowledge that '60s bank robbers loved Jags. Easy to come by, spacious, and dead-quick, it's no wonder Mk2s and S-Types were involved in many a high-speed chase in period. That meant the police needed something that could keep up, and in the late sixties, few cars could - so they got Jags as well.
The Jaguar S-Type was a fabulous tool for police fleets during the late 1960s, its blend of performance and refinement making it ideally suited to high-speed pursuit and motorway patrol duties. Today, surviving police-specification examples are vanishingly rare, and this 3.4S is understood to be one of just four still in existence worldwide.
This car has historically received a bare metal respray, and the vendor describes it as a very decent, strong car that starts first time and runs well. The vendor describes the interior as being in very good condition, while the chrome work presents well for its age. Having been held in private collections for many years, this is a rare opportunity to acquire a piece of British motoring and policing history.img-2255.jpg507.01 KB
