The Appeal
Few classics quite have the character of a classic Beetle, and this eye-catching ‘73 1303LS firmly leans into it. It is a Super Beetle convertible fitted with the 50bhp 1.6L engine and ‘luxury’ trim, notably including an improved clock.
The vendor acquired it in 2005 and says it has been used regularly and always garaged. It is finished in a bespoke yellow-and-black colour scheme, including the retrimmed leather interior, and presents well for a car of this age. The interior features front and rear seatbelts for up to five people. Enthusiasts will note the rare Lemmertz Sport wheels, including the spare, and period accessories like the front spoiler and auxiliary lights. A few detail points are worth noting in the photos.
We are told that the engine and gearbox have been refurbished and that the car runs very well. It is fitted with Spax shock absorbers. A tidy and very distinctive four-seat convertible.
The vendor says:
“Sound and runs well for a 1970's car. A real eye turner. Great condition and just awaiting to be taken out on the roads to enjoy.”
