The appeal
Only 2,564 Carrera 3.0 coupés left the Zuffenhausen factory in 1976 and 1977, making this version a relatively rare model, produced as a mid-range variant between the Carrera 2.7 and the 911 SC, which was much more common. It is particularly prized by enthusiasts for its 3.0-litre engine, derived from that of the 930 and reputed to be more robust than the previous 2.7-litre version, as well as for its lower kg than that of the later SC models.
This 1977 Porsche is one of the last Carrera 3.0s produced before production of the 911 SC began in August 1977 for the 1978 model year. As a 1977 model, it notably features the face-oriented dashboard air vents and the rare optional chrome window surrounds.
Even more remarkable, this example is fitted with the highly sought-after Sport Pack, comprising the large ‘whale tail’ rear wing, the iconic black Fuchs wheels and the front spoiler, as well as specific suspension and ride height settings. Combined with the dark metallic green paintwork, the ‘Carrera’ decals and the chrome window surrounds, this specification gives the car a particularly striking appearance.
The mileage of 146,790 km is documented in the service history. The last service was carried out in January 2025, at 146,079 km. Between 2023 and 2024, work totalling over €68,000 was also carried out by Porsche Lyon Sonauto and a Porsche specialist (GT Sport), notably on the fuel injectors, the thermostat and the cooling system hoses, as well as various checks and diagnostic procedures.

The Carrera 3.0 marks an important milestone in the 911’s aesthetic evolution and heralds the features that would define the wide-body versions of the following decade. In particular, it features widened rear wheel arches, giving it a more assertive presence than the previous Carrera 2.7 models.

The Carrera 3.0 holds a special place in the history of the 911. It features the 930’s engine, with its robust aluminium block, whilst remaining lighter than its successor, the 911 SC. With its 200 ch, this engine helps make the Carrera 3.0 one of the most sought-after versions of the first-generation wide-body 911.
The historical file records extensive work carried out in the 1990s, followed by a further restoration programme in 2024. Over €68,000 was spent on the car at the specialist workshop GT Sport, notably on replacing the fuel injectors, several cooling system hoses and the thermostat, as well as various additional work.
