The Appeal
For many, the Volkswagen Type 2 is the archetypal camper van – charming, spacious and characterful. Like many of Volkswagen’s long-running products, this model evolved during its long production life, with ‘T2’ versions boasting more space, thanks to a longer wheelbase, and more power from a larger, 1.6-litre engine.
This 1977 example is an official, factory-sanctioned Westfalia model that has been owned by the seller since 2021. It has been kept on a driveway, and regularly serviced by air-cooled VW specialists, including in June 2026.
The camper is finished in the classic colour scheme of white over duck egg blue, with white wheels and bumpers. The seller states that the body would benefit from some attention, noting a few areas of rust, including around the side window.
Inside, the rear accommodation section features a charming, eclectic floral-themed design with a cheerful checked floor. The seller notes that new flooring is required in the driving cabin, and notes the absence of a heater, as well as an incorrectly reading fuel gauge.
The seller states that “since the recent service, the van drives really well”. For a new owner who can give some attention to the bodywork and other minor points, this charming camper will provide enjoyment, both on the road and at camping grounds.
