The Appeal
The Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 is one of the most revered classic 4x4s ever built. Famously tested in the world's harshest terrain, these boxy 4x4s are a beguiling cross between farm machinery and passenger vehicles, with rugged capability and mechanical simplicity at their core.
This 1981 example was sourced from a private collector in Southeast Asia, where it spent its entire life in a mild climate, never subjected to snow or road salt. Before purchase, it was personally inspected and selected by a Toyota FJ40 specialist. The frame-off restoration was completed in 2024, encompassing bodywork, chassis, interior and mechanical components. Since arriving in the UK in early 2026, we're told that the car has been routinely serviced, passed its MOT in September 2026 and been stored in a dry garage.
