Highlights

  • Indicated 23,856 km from new, believed genuine by the vendor
  • Factory-supplied Pininfarina hardtop included
  • Just one former registered keeper
  • Dry-climate preservation, kept far from coastal air and damp

The Appeal

As pretty as the early boat-tail "Duettos" are, Alfa Romeo made some serious improvements with the introduction of the Series 2. Still achingly good-looking while now much more stable at speed and equipped with a better interior, the S2 is seen by many as the sweet spot in the long and celebrated 105/115 Spider lineage.

This particular example stands apart from the crowd. Having spent its entire life in the dry climate of the Natal Midlands in South Africa, far removed from coastal salt air and the damp conditions that so readily consume lesser Spiders, it has been preserved in a manner rarely encountered. The vendor describes it as dry, straight and honest, and with just one former registered keeper who kept it as part of a substantial collection, this Spider has led a remarkably sheltered existence. Recent expenditure reportedly ensures it drives as a properly sorted Spider should, and the vendor states it presents very well. For Alfisti seeking a dry, low-mileage Series 2 in left-hand drive, opportunities like this are few and far between.
