The Appeal
Born from the ingenuity of Milanese engineer Carlo Alberto Girardi in the mid-1930s and developed in partnership with Adalberto Garelli, the Mosquito auxiliary bicycle motor became a sensation when it went on sale in 1946, so named by factory workers for its remarkably quiet operation. It became the most widespread auxiliary bicycle motor in Europe, with licensed production spanning from Spain to Argentina. This 1985 example represents a fascinating chapter in the Mosquito's story: a collaboration with the renowned Trussardi fashion house, marrying Italian industrial heritage with high fashion in a striking exercise in co-branding.
Offered by Biga Garage, this Trussardi Mosquito is a charming and collectable piece of design history that encapsulates a uniquely Italian sensibility, sure to appeal to collectors of Italian curiosities or those drawn to the intersection of fashion and engineering.IMG_3792.JPG3.83 MB
