The Appeal
The Alfa Romeo 33 replaced the Alfasud in 1983, and carried over that car’s chassis and powertrains, inheriting its lively performance and engaging handling while introducing more modern styling and features. Over the course of 11 years, more than one million examples were sold, though few survive today in good condition.
This exceptionally well-presented left-hand drive Alfa Romeo 33 Green Cloverleaf (QV) is a ‘Series 1’ example from 1986. The seller states that the car was purchased from Spanish classic car specialist Colombo Classics in January 2022, where it had been described as being “in showroom condition”. The car has confirmed matching chassis and engine numbers and specification details.
The bright red exterior is highly original and correct, down to features such as the original ‘Nuove 33’ sticker in the rear window. Its period-correct alloy wheels are fitted with four new Pirelli tyres.
Inside, the car is also highly original, including the gear knob, radio and the Alfa Romeo pen and flashlight in the left-side (driver’s) door pocket. The black and grey trim is bright, free of obvious marks, and floor mats are fitted.
The 1.5-litre flat-four ‘boxer’ engine is well-presented. The seller states that the car was given a full mechanical inspection and service by Colombo Classic in 2022.
The seller describes that car as “very comfortable to drive, with a lovely rasp from the boxer engine. They also say that the car has been stored in a garage and not used in wet conditions.
