Black-on-black colour scheme with ivory leather interior
Part of a much-loved private collection
Garaged and dry stored
Accompanied by original handbooks, service book and some invoices
The Appeal
Malcolm Sayer's XJS was one of the most aspirational tourers of its age, and with the introduction of the High-Efficiency V12, it offered the glamorous, limo-like ride of a V12 engine with a fireball combustion chamber maintaining excellent fuel economy. They continue to be amongst the most iconic British cars of all time, and in a convertible like this, feel airy and sporty. It's little wonder they gain so much admiration.
This 1990 example, finished in black with a matching black hood over an ivory leather interior, is a fine ambassador, having been kept as part of a well-maintained private collection and seemingly having covered very little mileage. The accompanying paperwork includes plenty of older invoices from early in the car's life and there's plenty of originality to admire.image.png1.14 MB

✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off as part of an insurance total loss claim at the time an advert is placed on Car & Classic and we helpfully provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) for your assistance. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status and it is always worthwhile carrying out your own full vehicle history check before making an offer on a vehicle.
