The Appeal
We have the DB7 to thank for arguably the best XJS of the car’s 21-year development. Extended the car’s life with a heavy refresh, which was introduced in May 1991, was deemed necessary because TWR took the plans for its replacement, requiring Jaguar to execute a full rethink that became the XK8.
That delay meant the XJS was seriously reworked with sleeker styling, notably the side view, rear lights and bumpers, durable galvanised bodies and the legendarily durable AJ6 - later AJ16 - straight six engine. All reasons why this very smart Sapphire Blue 1995 car warrants your attention. The vendor tells us that he has known this car for 25 years, finally buying it in 2011 and subsequently spending £20,000 on making it as good as possible.
Work has covered the body, brakes, suspension, exhaust and headlining and is supported by a file of bills and receipts. The underside has been refurbished and wax oiled, and the engine bay has had corrosion addressed. Service history with Jaguar and Bentley garage stamps covers the car to 70,000 miles, with further more recent attention by classic car specialists.
For the last four years, the car has been kept in a secure, dehumidified storage facility, started regularly with the battery on trickle charge. The vendor reports that the leather interior is in good order, with only minor wear to the driver's seat. The bodywork is described by the vendor as being in very good order with no scrapes or marks. With an MOT valid until April 2027 and a well-documented history, this is a very tidy XJS in which to tour or show.
The vendor says:
“A classic car that looks and feels really special. An excellent example of the model that has been a joy to own and drive.”
