The Appeal
Everyone's talking about R129 SLs right now, and it's for good reason. These cars are widely regarded as one of the finest grand tourers Mercedes-Benz ever produced, and the V8-powered SL500 occupies the sweet spot of the range, delivering effortless performance paired with the refinement expected of Stuttgart's flagship roadster. Well-kept examples are increasingly sought after.
This 1995 SL500 is said to have been dry stored throughout its life, and the vendor rates it 9/10 for its age. The bodywork is described as presenting very well, with only the odd touch-up noted, and the underside is reported as clean. It rides on genuine 18" staggered monoblock alloy wheels shod with nearly new Pirelli tyres, and has been lowered on Eibach springs. The vendor states the interior is in very good order, with all electrical functions reported as operational. Equipment includes air conditioning, memory seats, an electrically adjustable steering column, a wood and leather steering wheel, and a wind deflector.
Both roof options are well catered for: a factory colour-coded hardtop comes with its own stand and winch, while the soft top is brand new with a fully clear rear window. The hardtop headlining has also been renewed. A history file comprising 23 service stamps and invoices accompanies the car, and a service was carried out in February 2025, encompassing spark plugs and a gearbox service.
