The Appeal
The long-nosed Z3 is worthy of its enduring reputation. Certainly one of the most ambitiously designed Beamers of the past few decades, these long-nosed sports cars are still headturners, and still more than capable of stirring the soul. The 1999 model year introduced the now-familiar M52 straight-six that really brought the car into its own.
This example is something rather special. Having covered just 7,800 miles from new across three keepers, it has been dry stored throughout its life and presents in 'superb' condition that belies its 27 years. Vendor says, 'it must surely be one of the very best examples available'. Supplied new by Howarth of Rochdale BMW in September 1999, it spent its first 17 years in a private collection before being part-exchanged for a new Morgan in 2016. Its second keeper entered it into the Tatton Park 2018 Classic Car Spectacular, where it took 1st place for best classic BMW — a trophy that remains with the car.
The current owner has continued the careful custodianship, keeping the car dry stored and commissioning extensive servicing from a BMW specialist on two occasions. Around 1,300 miles have been added during fine-weather use, providing a thorough shakedown after years of minimal use and offering considerable peace of mind for the next keeper.IMG_2923.jpeg8.01 MB
