The Appeal
The X308 generation of the Jaguar XJ combined its predecessors’ svelte looks with updated detailing, an upgraded interior and V8 powertrains. The XJR performance variant, described as “a muscle car in a tuxedo" by Motor Trend, utilised a supercharged version of the four-litre V8, delivering high levels of performance with rapid responses. The exterior gained matte black window trim, silver mesh radiator grille with body-coloured surrounds, XJR badging and larger wheels, while upgraded suspension ensured sure-footed handling.
This is a very low-mileage and extremely well-presented 1999 example, registered in 2000, finished in deep metallic blue with cream and beige leather interior. It features seven-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels and red callipers, which the seller had painted this colour in 2025, the year they made the purchase. The car had previously been stored in a garage for several years, and kept in a Carcoon inflatable storage unit.
The car is remarkably original, down to its stereo system with boot-mounted CD changer, original user manuals and handover video in the boot. It represents a fine opportunity to acquire a little-used and very well cared-for example of Jaguar’s performance flagship saloon.
