The Appeal
In the 1990s, Alfa Romeo underwent a revival, introducing models that restored the storied Italian marque’s reputation for building cars with flair and dynamism. The ‘Type 916’ Spider was part of that line-up, with unmistakable Pininfarina styling, a range of characterful engines, and the option of open-top motoring.
The seller of this unmodified 2001 Spider 2.0 says a dedicated Alfa Romeo enthusiast has serviced and looked after the car for the past 15 years, using genuine parts.
The black exterior presents very well, and the car wears attractive, period-correct ‘phone dial’ alloy wheels. The seller reports only some small stone chips to the car’s front, stating that the rest of the exterior – including the manual soft top – is all present and correct.
Inside, the mustard yellow interior features ribbed leather seats with Alfa Romeo embossing on the seatbacks and Momo embossing on the headrests. Floor mats have been fitted, and the seller reports that the door trims have been replaced with standard fittings.
Under the bonnet, the engine bay with the 16-valve ‘Twin Spark’ engine – boasting two spark plugs per cylinder – is clean and tidy.
With recent service in May 2025 and an MOT valid until May 2027, this highly original Alfa Romeo 916 Spider is ready to be enjoyed on the road or at one of the many owners’ club events held across the UK and Europe.

✓ The seller is registered as a private seller, which means consumer rights stemming from EU consumer protection law do not come into effect. However, you are still covered by Car & Classic’s own Terms and Conditions..
✓ We request that a non-refundable fee be paid if you are the lucky winning bidder at auction or if your offer is accepted. Please refer to our helpful FAQs and T&Cs for specific rates.
✓ This vehicle is “Sold As Seen”, on an “As Is Where Is” basis and without warranty. Photos and descriptions are solely for guidance purposes, and it’s customary to carry out a full inspection of the vehicle prior to purchase for your own peace of mind.

✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off as part of an insurance total loss claim at the time an advert is placed on Car & Classic, and we helpfully provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) for your assistance. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status, and it is always worthwhile carrying out your own full vehicle history check before making an offer on a vehicle.
