The Appeal

The W221 marked a return to Mercedes’ classic ‘engineering first’ principles, giving deep-pocketed buyers a luxurious limousine with the sort of reliability and reassuring quality that made the firm’s big saloons of the 70s, 80s and 90s such a fixture of executive car parks.

The S550 is close to the top of the W221 tree, equipped with the firm’s M273 382bhp V8 engine. It was originally delivered in the United States, and matches the paintwork to a very tasteful brown leather cabin trimmed in extensive walnut veneers.
