The Appeal
The Volkswagen Golf R Cabriolet is among the rarest variants in the Golf R lineage. Combining the potent 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with open-top motoring and a quick-shifting DSG gearbox, it was the first time a Golf Cabrio wore the ever-desirable 'R' badge, and was strictly limited production, with only a small number built at the Osnabrück plant. No firm numbers are known, but the press reckon fewer than 200 units were produced in total worldwide. It was remarkably expensive for the UK market, with only around 40 units sold for nearly £40,000 apiece...
This 2013 example has covered 58,109 miles and is a cracking example.
