The Appeal
Few names are more closely associated with Mini’s competition history than Paddy Hopkirk. His victory on the 1964 Monte Carlo Rally, driving the now-famous number 37 Mini Cooper S with co-driver Henry Liddon, secured the model’s first outright win on the event and helped establish the diminutive British car as a formidable force in international rallying.
Introduced in 2020, the Paddy Hopkirk Edition paid tribute to that achievement using the contemporary Cooper S three-door as its basis. Finished in Chili Red with a contrasting white roof, it incorporated numerous references to the 1964 winner, including the number 37 door graphics, Hopkirk’s signature and a bonnet stripe carrying a representation of the original car’s ‘33 EJB’ registration. Just 100 examples were offered to UK customers.
The special treatment continued with 17-inch John Cooper Works Track Spoke alloy wheels, Piano Black exterior detailing, auxiliary lamps and a motorsport-inspired Alcantara John Cooper Works steering wheel, while the Navigation and Comfort Packs were included as standard on UK cars. Beneath the commemorative detailing sat the familiar turbocharged 2.0-litre Cooper S powertrain, ensuring the edition retained the lively performance expected of the model.
This example was acquired by the seller in October 2025 and has had just one previous owner. The seller advises that servicing has been carried out in accordance with the prescribed intervals, with engine oil and filter changes undertaken more frequently than required, while both the interior and distinctive exterior graphics are described as being in excellent condition. Combining genuine rarity with one of the most evocative stories in Mini’s competition history, it is a particularly interesting modern interpretation of the marque’s rallying heritage. image.png4.47 MB
