E Type Series 1 DHC’s still remain the most sought after of all E Types perhaps due to their relatively low production numbers and if you are into driving rather than showing then the 4. 2 version is certainly the one to have.
KKH 629D came from a member of the family that owns Hilltop Auto the Vintage Jaguar dealers who are known worldwide. The car remains in exceptional and as built condition with original factory bodywork including cills and floors.
Since being acquired by Straight Six the car has undergone a sustained programme of repairs and improvements including a professional conversion. The 4. 2 engine has been fully rebuilt by an E Type specialist and the back axle has been removed and overhauled including a diff. rebuild. The suspension and steering have been refurbished and the brakes have been upgraded front and back. KKH 629D has been treated to a high quality refinish in the original Golden Sand and the original frames which are in excellent condition were repainted to match when the mechanicals had been removed.
The interior and dash are just lovely and remain in very good condition in the original black. The result is not a nut and bolt restored new car but a very attractive used car that needs to be seen and driven to be fully appreciated.
The car comes with a very good hood and frame, new hood cover and a period correct excellent hard top. There is a comprehensive history file which includes the Jaguar Heritage Certificate and details of recent expenditure of over £30k.
