The Appeal
The BMW E24 633 CSi ranks among the iconic grand tourers of the 1970s. The early hand-assembled examples from Karmann feature certain characteristics sought after by collectors. Presented in a rare Fjord Blue metallic 037 shade with an interior combining leather and velvet specific to this configuration, this Phase 1 example would be, according to the seller, one of fewer than 500 produced in this combination between 1976 and 1978.
After approximately 30 years of storage in a dry garage, this 633 CSi has been recommissioned rather than restored, thus preserving a presentation consistent with its history. The current owner, presented as the third registered owner, has renewed the fuel system, installed a new clutch, overhauled the braking system and replaced all fluids. A compression test reportedly confirmed the good condition of the 3.2-litre M30B32 straight-six engine.
The bodywork shows signs of wear consistent with its age, notably some paint chips, minor dents and slight lacquer lifting in certain areas. Significant corrosion is not reported, however. Originally supplied to the Swiss market, as evidenced by its white headlights, it is now registered in France.image.png1.57 MB
