1926 Morris Cowley Bullnose

Highlights

  • Fully restored
  • Excellent condition throughout
  • Engine rebuilt 133 miles ago

The Appeal

The Morris Cowley is one of our favourite looking cars from this era and looks particularly fetching with the two seater sports body finished in Damson Red. Completely restored by the current owner including a whole new custom made steel body on an Ash frame it presents excellently, having been kept garaged and used only for the occasional show.
Tastefully finished for maximum appeal the owner has fitted several additional extras that may not be functional but really make this car stand out, including an exterior hand brake, long range fuel tank at the rear, Shell fuel cans and two side mounted spare wheels. It looks fantastic from every angle making for an exceptionally fine example of this car.

The History and Paperwork

  • V5 Present and correct
  • Original owners manual
  • A selection of pictures taken during the restoration
  • MOT and tax exempt
  • An invoice for new tyres and shot blasting for five wheels
  • An invoice dated 2016 for refacing two brake drums
  • An invoice dated 2015 for refacing the flywheel

The Interior

  • Excellent condition throughout
  • Fully re-trimmed in red to match the exterior
  • Brushed aluminium dashboard
  • False handbrake on the exterior added for aesthetics
The interior of this Morris presents very well thanks to the extensive restoration by the current owner which includes re-trimmed seats, new dashboard, new floor rubbers and new paint inside the body. Climbing up behind the wheel of this Morris and looking down the bonnet towards the temperature gauge reminds you of just how much of a different experience driving used to be.
The Aluminium dashboard looks great coupled with the cream and black dials which have some light patination visible. The seats have been re-covered in red leatherette and both look good and are very comfortable, they both fold forward to give access to the rear storage area which has been painted white with some matching red leatherette trim to finish.

The Exterior

  • Excellent condition overall
  • Finished in Damson Red
  • All six wheels are in very good condition
  • Period correct Shell fuel cans on the sides
  • Custom made steel two seater sports body over an Ash frame
  • Rear long range/touring fuel tank fitted for aesthetics
As with the interior the exterior of this Morris presents excellently. The hand made steel and Ash two seater sports body finished in maroon looks simply fantastic and all of the paint is in excellent condition. All six of the wheels present very well and the owner has finished off the car with period-correct Shell fuel cans mounted to the side and the whole combination makes for a car that’s perfect for shows.
The owner informs us all six of the wheels have been shot blasted and zinc coated prior to painting. All of the badges, light lenses, brightwork, trim and body present very well and are of a condition more befitting a new car, not one that’s almost 100 years old!

The Mechanics

  • Starts easily
  • Idles well
  • Engine bay is clean and tidy
  • Underside is in very good condition
  • The owner informs us that he carried out extensive mechanical work during the restoration
As with every other aspect of this car it presents very well mechanically. Given the design it’s easy to see the condition of many of the components all of which appear to be excellent, from the distinctive elliptical leaf springs to the hubs it looks fantastic.
It starts very easily and idles well with the distinctive sound of a mechanically timed engine. The owner informs us that it drives perfectly and that he carried out a full strip down and rebuild of the engine as part of the restoration along with an overhaul of the radiator, full overhaul of all of the leaf springs and a magneto and dynastart overhaul although unfortunately there are no invoices for this work.

Summary

This Morris Bullnose Cowley presents excellently inside and out.

Thanks to a comprehensive restoration by the current owner it’s looks are matched by excellent mechanical performance and coupled with some period correct additions, such as the secondary fuel tank (not connected), Shell fuel cans and the two spare wheels on the sides it makes for an exceptional example of this British classic.
Ready to show or ideal for simply enjoying the great British summer, it’s a gorgeous classic that is ready for a new home.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £9,999 £100.00
£10,000 to £49,999 £250.00
£50,000 to £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

Pre-authorisation

We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
