THE APPEAL
This eye-catching custom hot rod is unique in many ways.
There is a huge, documented list of custom-made parts which were created by engineer Dave Melling in the 1980s with help from renowned hotrod builder Ed Wimble.
The highly detailed 3.5-litre Rover V8 engine looks and sounds amazing. The high-compression block and the cylinder heads are from an SD1 which is fed via a Holley 39 carburettor and Offenhauser manifold driving the rear wheels via an automatic transmission.
THE HISTORY AND PAPERWORK
- The Model T comes with a substantial file of paperwork, detailing its history and build, with full photo documentation of the seven-year creation process in the 1980s
- The creators were meticulous with their documentation and have also retained hand drawn designs for parts. The wiring loom is also documented making upgrades simple
- Registered and Taxed on a UK plate in Ireland, can be immediately registered in the UK if needed
- The car’s identity with the DVLA is that of a 1959 Standard Vanguard, but the chassis, body, and mechanicals are all completely customised
- The most recent MOT test on file was on 19 September 2012 at an indicated 280 miles, which was a clean pass with no advisories
- The car was sat for a while before a previous owner bought and recommissioned the car
- The current owner has also been busy and made many improvements to the mechanicals

SUMMARY
The extensive current recommissioning of this Custom hotrod really showcases the amount of time and detail that went into building this labour of love.
Every part tells a story, and they all combine faultlessly to create something rather special.
This Model T “Little Red T” probably isn’t destined to be used to pop to the shops on a Sunday morning.
It’ll be saved for special events, marketing or as the ultimate head turner in summer shows. Maybe there’s also just enough room for it to be displayed in your home as a talking point.
It’s the ultimate life size fully working Hot Wheels Hotrod!
