The Appeal
Fitting in between the entry-level Austin Seven and the bigger 12, the four-cylinder 1.2-litre side-value Austin 10 Litchfield was a popular and well-liked car. It subject to regular upgrades and sold with a wide variety of body styles. The standard hardtop 4-door Lichfield offered a protruding accessible boot and numerous upgrades to the body styling and running gear, the cabriolet version retains the rigidity of using the doors, glass and structural posts from the fixed head model while offering a true open-top appeal.
This delightful example of a 1935 4-door cabriolet was previously owned by an enthusiast in the Warwickshire area prior to being bought by a collector as part of a private vintage car collection. Believed to be a factory-built cabriolet, precious little of its provenance comes with the car, but based on the evidence of its clean exterior and interior presentation and its regular mechanical attention in the hands of its previous owner, it will not need much more than a precautionary check-over to ensure it's ready for the summer. It will be sold with its current V5 registration document.
