The Appeal
After proving itself to be a particularly capable saloon and estate, Ford produced a convertible version of its Consul in 1953. It was built by Carbodies in Coventry, and to make up for the lack of roof, an X-frame was welded into the floor plan.
This 1955 example is utterly superb in every way. Following extensive restoration, it received a 5-star review from the Ford Motor Club in 2004, and has only covered 12,000 miles since. As the photographs show, it has been meticulously kept, presenting impeccably throughout. There's a detailed restoration record with invoices and photographs for the new owner to pour over,
We're assured that the car drives brilliantly and is ready to enjoy.image.png3.39 MB

✓ We want a smooth transaction just as much as you do and as such we run all UK-registered cars and motorbikes for sale on Car & Classic through an online HPI check to verify that they show no insurance database markers for damage or theft, and have no finance owing, allowing you to bid with confidence.
✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off as part of an insurance total loss claim at the time an advert is placed on Car & Classic and we helpfully provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) for your assistance. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status and it is always worthwhile carrying out your own full vehicle history check before making an offer on a vehicle.

Pre-bids
What are pre-bids?
A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction. You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.
A quality, obviously meticulous restoration that looks to have held well in original livery and trim. I did bid on the previous auction and will again on the forthcoming auction. It would’ve been good if we had been treated to a video with sound, the few seconds of the engine running needs more really for bidders who are unable to view prior to bidding. For me the only “fly in the ointment “ is the late model stereo and cutting the door cards to fit speakers, other than that a gem.
Best of luck with the auction.
