The Appeal
For the wealthy motorist who liked to grand tour around Europe in the 1950s, the Aston Martin DB2/4 MK2 offered the ultimate in pace and refinement. With its graceful David Brown-era styling and potent Lagonda 3.0-litre inline-six, it remains one of the most desirable sports cars of its era, combining genuine grand touring capability with competition-bred engineering.
This 1957 example comes to market following a restoration and presents a compelling opportunity for the discerning enthusiast. The vendor informs us that the car presents exceedingly well both cosmetically and mechanically, with paint reportedly showing no signs of corrosion or damage and an original interior that the vendor states is free from damage or excessive wear.
The car's competition credentials are particularly noteworthy, having been used for high-end motoring events, including the prestigious Peter Auto Tour Auto, demonstrating both its capability and the level of preparation it has received.
Supporting this is a comprehensive maintenance history file spanning over 50 pages, providing detailed documentation of the care lavished upon this Aston Martin. This Aston's vibrant two-tone colour scheme harks back to the 1950s, and the paint job looks very good indeed. The bodywork appears solid and straight, with good panel fit and smart trims. The chrome wire wheels gleam and are fitted with period-style Michelin tyres. Inside, the Aston boasts beautiful grey leather upholstery, showing minimal signs of wear. The woodwork also looks very good, as do the carpets.
Lift this Aston's big bonnet to reveal a very well-presented engine bay. That legendary DOHC straight-six, an engine designed with input from the great W.O. Bentley, looks to be in smart order. We're informed that the car runs and drives very well post-restoration in readiness for its new custodian.Aston_DB2_4-26.jpg2.24 MB
