The Appeal
An evocative time capsule to the days of extravagant wings, aggressive grilles and plenty of chrome - the V8-powered Chevrolets of the 50s and 60s are a legend unto themselves, a distinctive piece of Route-66 culture and all that came with it. It’s as American and as gloriously retro as Monroe and Presley. They were practically built for cruising down palm-tree-lined streets, and with their impressive interiors and glamorous chromework, it’s little wonder that they’re still highly desirable cars.
This 2nd-generation example is subject to a recent restoration, and looks to be in superb condition throughout. It’s the perfect example to get behind that Chevvy small-block and transport yourself to the golden age of American motoring.
Excellent red vinyl interior with plenty of chromework
Period dials, tactile switches and original radio
Colour-matched steering wheel
Sitting in this exceptional cabin is a real experience. The sumptuous lines of the Cadillac are beautifully accented by its textured vinyl interior, with multi-tone upholstery, all free of rips and tears.
The dashboard, layered in plenty of chromework with a bright red colour scheme, is festooned with attractive dials, tactile switches and the original radio. Everything is reportedly in good working condition, and we can spot no major faults or signs of wear. All of the chrome, be it the trims surrounding the dials or the handles and door furniture, is in good, clean condition.
The carpets and headlining are in good order. With the footwells protected by rubber mats. We can’t spot any areas of concern across the board, and the floors underneath look to be in good fettle.
This theme continues in the boot, which carries a jack, spare wheel and tool kit. The floors here are in excellent condition with no major signs of wear or corrosion.
Impressive red paintwork with generous levels of chrome
Iconic Chevrolet branding and detail, including signature ‘hood bullets’
Original steel flag-branded wheels
The iconic lines of the Bel Air are unmistakable - it’s pure, signature Chevrolet, with sweeping lines, subtle curves and plenty of chromework creating a very beguiling character. This example looks in exceptional order, with the bright red, off-whites and glittering chrome all in good condition.
The bodywork is straight and tightly knit, with only minimal signs - if any - of wear on the paintwork. The Chevrolet branding and its smorgasbord of chrome is all present and correct, with only minimal pitting or wear across the board.
All of the glasswork and lenses look in good order, and the wheels are nicely kept, with Chevrolet flag branding and excellent white-walled Coker Classic tyres. From what we understand, the underside of the car is in equally good order.
Popping open the hood of this Bel Air will excite any enthusiast. Behold, the Chevrolet Small-Block V8 - small by name, but not by nature, this big V8 powerplant is ready and waiting to hit the road with its distinctive blurble.
The car’s engine looks in good condition, and the car is reportedly starting, shifting, driving and braking with no issues. We’ve been informed of no leaks, bangs, knocks or smoke from the engine, and the car is reportedly ready and waiting for use.
If you’re a fan of mid-century Americana, V8 engines, or big, extravagant fins, you’ll not find many examples equal to this superb, restored specimen.

About Max Bids
The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.
Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.
Anti-sniping
Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.
Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.
Auto-bidding increments
If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.
