THE APPEAL
Comfortable, luxuriously finished and extremely elegant, but at the same time very fast and agile, so much so that it became the car to beat in the European Touring Car Championship, since its presentation in 1959 the Jaguar MK2 became a true icon, a symbol of the progress of the automotive industry and the ability of the Jaguar brand to produce revolutionary cars and create new markets.
The Mk2 was a refined executive sedan, with austere and sophisticated lines and a comfortable interior upholstered in high quality soft leather and precious burr walnut, but it was also the first real high-performance four-door, chosen by robbers for the most daring escapes and by the police to pursue them, when equipped with the powerful 220 HP 3.8 liter XK engine with two overhead camshafts.
This Mark II, presented in a refined and desirable combination with the original Old English White bodywork and a luxurious interior upholstered in supple red leather and finished with burr wood in very good condition, is equipped with very desirable options, such as the original, highly sought-after knock-off wire wheels and the optional Laycock overdrive.
Sold new in Italy and with only four attentive and devoted previous owners, the car has always been garage stored and maintained with the utmost care.
After a thorough restoration in 1990 it has been used very rarely, but kept in regular operation to ensure its perfect efficiency.
This Jaguar Mark II represents a very rare opportunity to acquire an always sought-after car ready to drive, in very good condition and in a particularly desirable trim.

The passenger compartment is finished with great care and precious materials, with large and comfortable seats upholstered in soft leather, a beautiful dashboard in burr walnut wood and countless refined and impressive details, such as the reclining tables housed behind the front backrests, the burr walnut wood doors' finishing and the cozy armrests.
At the wheel we can enjoy the exciting view of the softly shaped bonnet on which the iconic leaping Jaguar mascot is proudly displayed.
The atmosphere is evocative and inebriating and forgotten scents, sounds and tactile sensations project us into the past and take us back to the times when the 3.8-liter Jaguar Mark II was the favourite car of a refined elite international clientele, passionate about involving and spirited driving.
The cockpit is comfortable and intelligently designed with all controls close at hand, with large and clear Smith gauges behind the beautiful original two-spoke wheel and accessory dials housed in the central part of the dashboard, along with pleasant toggle switches.
The condition of the interior is still very good despite the dated restoration.
Small discolorations and slight scratches on the front seats and on the piping of the rear bench are the only visible flaws, while the burr walnut dashboard, a real sinuously shaped sculpture, is shiny and intact.
THE EXTERIOR
- In good general condition
- Original Old English White paint
- Bumpers, chrome and badges in very good condition
- Intact and clear headlights
- Original knock-off wire wheels
- Slight traces of surface corrosion on the underbody
The unmistakable sinuous lines of the Jaguar MK2 are elegant yet dynamic, characterized by large glass surfaces, a long and rounded bonnet and a short and dramatically sloped tail, which makes it always appear ready to leap forward.
On this example, the largely original paintwork is in good condition and presents only minor imperfections, having been expertly retouched as needed over the years and features smooth, even panels with no signs of corrosion.
Up front, the elegant and precious chrome grille, headlight bezels, bonnet trims and the iconic Jaguar mascot are clean and shiny.
The beltline chrome strips, the window frames, the taillights and the bumpers are also in very good condition, free from noticeable defects.
The underbody shows localized traces of surface corrosion but no signs of significant oil leaks or rust.
The sought-after and distinctive knock-off wire wheels will require a tune-up.
