1967 Jaguar MK II 3.4

***CAT - C***

∙Recent rear end body rebuild
∙Tax and MOT exempt
∙A good example of British automotive icon

The Background

An icon of the post-war automotive industry the Jaguar Mk.2 was a luxury sports saloon built from 1959-67 in the Coventry plant. The Mark 2 was a very fast and capable car, it launched with the slogan of ‘Grace, Space, Pace’ and they weren’t wrong.

The Mark 2 was fitted with such luxuries like disc brakes all round, a limited slip differential and power steering. With all of this sophisticated equipment they were able to garner the admiration of several criminal gangs of the era as getaway vehicles, and on the flip side they were also used by the British Police to patrol the newly built motorway system.

The History

There is very little history with this car sadly. It was involved in an accident some time recently and then classified as a Cat N total loss, but the current owner took it on and repaired the damage to bring the big cat back into proper condition.

The Paperwork

On the day of the photographs there wasn’t any paperwork present, so we cannot vouch for what paperwork there currently is on this Jaguar. There isn’t a V5 with this car so the new owner will need to apply for a new one.

The Interior

The interior of this Mk.2 is what you’d expect from a classic Jaguar; it's filled with leather and wooden trim, almost as fine as any club of the time. There are a few issues however within the inside, with some of the aforementioned fixtures and fittings starting to show some signs of wear. The wooden dash could probably do with a bit of love to bring back to its former glory.

It may have a few issues but features like the seats are in good condition and are like sitting in an old armchair.

The Exterior

Finished in a lovely green Jaguar Mk.2 looks stunning, there are only a handful of car that look this good. The sweeping lines of a 60’s Jaguar are unmistakable and coupled with the chrome and miles of bonnet it does signify something special, these days cars do not look this good.

As you’d expect from a car of this age there are a few marks here and there, with some lacquer peel on the rear left wheel arch and there are a few rust spots.

Recently the car was involved in a rear end collision and was subsequently written-off as a total loss after the insurance company couldn’t source any parts therefore it is now a category N car. The current owner took on the challenge and repaired the rear quarter to be as good as new.

The Mechanics

The mechanics of this big cat were proving temperamental on the day that the photos were taken. The current owner stated that he will get the issues sorted out at a classic car specific workshop before the car is sold.

The Appeal

There is a great admiration for this type of Jaguar, they command a road presence unlike any other modern car. If you see one of these cars driving past you will always stop and stare at the beautiful lines of this post-war Jaguar.

The new owner will have the ability to be the custodian of a true classic. When all the cosmetic problems have been worked on then this will be a great car to drive and a lovely place to sit. Whether you take it on a Sunday drive or a long continental road-trip it will be a perfect companion.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.
Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

C&C prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.
Auctions are extended by 5-minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £10,000 £100.00
£10,000 to £50,000 £250.00
£50,000 to £100,000 £500.00
£100,000+ £1000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.
You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.
