The Appeal
The Austin mini needs no introduction as far as regular minis go, but this Traveller model is an absolute gem, with what is believed to be accurate 18,533 miles and only one previous keeper outside of the UK having been imported from SA in 2021.
With nice straight bodywork, solid floorpan and ample space for a week away, this incredible little car is now exceptionally rare, especially in this condition and will never look out of place anywhere.
Supple leather interior, plush carpets and a singing, yet rather raspy sounding engine note, the whole package is a pure joy of automotive history.
The History and Paperwork
- Just registered in the UK with plates supplied
- V5 showing no previous keepers. The car was imported from SA and had one keeper from new until the vendor purchased it in 2017. It then spent some time in South Africa until following the vendor to the UK in 2021.

The Interior
- Evidently restored recently to a very high standard retaining most original features - Plush (leather/Leatherette) seats in very nice order with no evident damage or wear - Momo steering wheel
- Plush carpets to match the seats
- Good quality headlining matching the interior and well fitted/trimmed
- Rolling and slide windows all operational
- The interior would benefit from a detail to bring some of the colour back to the carpets and seats from regular use
The Exterior
- Painted to a very high standard with nice even coverage
- Would benefit from a light machine polish to remove the ‘love marks’ from cleaning from the paintwork to take this to the next level
- There is a scratch along the lower part of the rear doors and near the fuel filler. These may polish away, but would benefit from attention
- We didn’t spot any paint blistering or corrosion at the time of inspection. This is no surprise being a South African car and currently dry stored. We have been assured by the vendor that the underside is equally as good as the top
- All brightwork appears complete and in very good order with no significant blemishing The Mechanics
- New battery to be fitted before sale
- No evidence of any significant welding or bodywork repairs that we saw - Beautifully clean and tidy engine bay with a stunning original finish
- Recent set of tyres, although not all matching
- Spare tyre in need of replacement
- Ran a little off on idle when we saw the car, but we were assured this this is because of lack of use over the recent months and that the car runs perfectly usually
- Very pleasing exhaust note and subtle stainless exhaust tip
The Summary
Likely one of the most solid and low mileage examples available today, this wonderful little gem of a Mini is a true crowd pleaser and would be a wonderful first classic or superb action to any collection.
With a lovely paint finish simply in need of a polish and a light, airy interior, this plucky motor provides a rare opportunity to own something just that little bit different to the rest.
