The Appeal

The Camaro is the epitome of a Muscle Car, bought out in an era of cheap ‘gas’ and the excitement of the space race it encapsulates the time well. With a small block V8 and looks to die for the Chevrolet Camaro is such a great classic.

With four distinctive generational models, it is this example, the first generation, that is the one you want. It has sharper lines than the following models and is more sort after in the classic car world.

This example was imported into the UK in 2013 and has been under the same custodianship since then, due to a change in circumstances it is now time for the car to go to someone else who will enjoy the thrills of classic muscle car motoring.

The History and Paperwork

  • Built in 1968 this Camaro started its illustrious life on the wide and open roads across the pond, in America
  • It is hard to plot its life stateside due to a lack of paperwork until 2011
  • In 2011 its ‘Title’ shows us that this car was living in Nebraska
  • The current owner imported this car into the UK in 2013 and has since kept it stored undercover in a garage, meaning she has not had to experience the glorious English weather
  • On purchasing the car, they made a few usability upgrades to make sure it could be used regularly on the UK roads
  • They changed the rear indicators/reverse lights into a modern LED system that incorporates the white reverse light and amber indicator
  • There are also LED boards and circuitry to convert the red brake lights to the same system
  • The most recent invoice is from 2020 when the car went into the garage to rectify the poor braking performance. Upon inspection, the mast cylinder was leaking so it was replaced, and the brakes were bled again
  • There are a few invoices from Ecklers in America where the current owner acquires a few parts to get this car looking as good as it can
  • As you’d expect the import duties were paid in full when the car came over to the UK nearly 10 years ago and there is an invoice to prove this.
  • There is a current V5 which will make the registered owner switch nice and simple

The Interior

  • Gloriously American interior
  • Huge wood effect steering wheel – the original SS wheel has been kept
  • Modern seat belts fitted
You cannot get any more American than the interior of this Camaro, with a huge gear selector and somewhat questionable wood veneer it is a great place to sit and take in the noise of the V8 under the bonnet.

The seats fitted to this Camaro are in excellent condition, trimmed in a black leather-like material and houndstooth fabric inserts they are not only wonderful to look at, but they are also nice and large. All four of these seats are presented in very good condition with no obvious signs of rips or tears to the material, there does seem to be a small faint mark on the passenger seat base, but some interior cleaner should get this out.

To make this car more usable in the modern world the current owner has had proper seat belts fitted for both the front and rear passengers. The original GM stamped seatbelts have been kept and will come with the car.

When you have the roof up the interior turns into a focused driving space, but as soon as you fold the roof back it is transformed into a light and airy cabin filled with natural light and fresh air. It must be said that the interior condition of this hood is excellent, without any obvious signs of damage to the black headliner. With summer on the horizon, this will be the perfect soft top cruiser for your collection.

Overall, the interior condition of this American muscle car is in great condition and ready for you to hop in and take it for a cruise.

The Exterior

  • Iconic muscle car design
  • All four wheels are in great condition
  • The white hood shows no obvious signs of damage
Isn’t this car a stunner? We think so. With a large chin and lip combo with huge rear haunches, it encapsulates everything that is great with American muscle cars. Harking back to a time of drive-in movie theatres, diners, and motels just looking at this car alone brings back waves of nostalgia.

The exterior of this Camaro is in excellent condition, with the beautiful blue paintwork sitting resplendent in the Brighton sunshine, the white stripe just adds even more depth to the livery, there is a little mark on the passenger side. Along with the paint, all four of the wheels are in great condition too, shod with authentic-looking Goodyear Eagle ST tyres it fits the classic look.

With the white hood also being in great condition with no obvious signs of damage this car is a real looker and will also turn a head or ten. Whoever has the pleasure of owning this car next will be getting one stunner of a car.

The Mechanics

  • Fitted with a huge 5.7L small-block V8
  • Brilliant fun to drive
  • New battery fitted – starts nice and quickly
With the runaway success of the Ford Mustang, Chevrolet executives realised the need for a sporty car that could share parts from across the Chevrolet family.

The Camaro was chosen over the Monza due to its ability to share parts with the Nova. When it launched in 1967 you could have your Camaro with a vast selection of engines, this example is fitted with the 350 cu in (5.7L) V8 mated to an automatic gearbox to enable comfortable cruising.

The mechanical aspects of this car are in very good condition and the engine was rather clean. She has just been fitted with a new battery a few weeks ago, thanks to this she will fire up nice and quickly. It was required to manoeuvre a few times to get into the perfect position for the photographs, she was cold, to begin with but after she had warmed up a little, she purred sweetly.

This is the perfect car for summer road trips and the big V8 will never fail to render a huge smile, with the smooth box it is a great cruiser ready for you to drive away on the day of collection.

Summary

Everyone who sets eyes on this Camaro will fall in love instantly, with its purposeful design and comfortable interior it is a great car for any task you can think of. With only one UK owner since she came into the county almost a decade ago, it is now time for you to write the next chapter in her life.

Be in no doubt this will be a great purchase leading to many happy memories in the future.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £9,999 £100.00
£10,000 to £49,999 £250.00
£50,000 to £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

Pre-authorisation

We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
