The Appeal

The Lotus Elan Plus 2 represents Colin Chapman's vision of adding practicality to the renowned Elan, without sacrificing its legendary handling characteristics. A tall order indeed, but one Hethel's works managed admirably with the Plus 2 in 1967.

This rare early example from 1968 offers the purity of design that made the Plus 2 so desirable, combining the Elan's celebrated road manners with additional space for rear passengers. This car is clearly in very smart condition for its age, benefiting from a galvanised chassis that addresses one of the model's few weaknesses. With refurbished mechanical components, including an engine rebuild, and a substantial history file, this Elan Plus 2 represents a fine opportunity to acquire an increasingly popular classic Lotus.
