1969 Triumph TR6 CP150

Highlights

  • Low mileage example
  • Just 4 former keepers
  • Restored interior
  • Drives & performs brilliantly

The Appeal

Produced between 1969 and 1976, the TR6 would become Triumph’s best-selling vehicle from the TR series, until it was later succeeded by the TR7. Fitted with a fruity straight-six engine, these roadsters are capable of producing around 150bhp, and delivering a sub 9 second 0-60 time. As you would perhaps expect, these roadsters are still incredibly desirable to this day, with enthusiasts on the search for tidy examples to enjoy out on an open B road.
This particular example shows just 57,415 on the clock, with only 4 former keepers noted on the V5C document. With plenty of original components and a care-filled past, this beautiful TR6 would no doubt make the perfect addition to your collection, and a very rewarding weekend toy.

The History and Paperwork

  • 4 former keepers
  • Low mileage
  • Heritage certificate
  • Handbooks included
  • V5C document present
  • Original wheels included
This TR6 is a rather standout example, with only 57k on the clock, and 4 former keepers recorded on the current V5C document. This mileage is indeed believed to be correct and is supported by a fantastic collection of previous MOT certificates.
Also included alongside the MOT certificates, are the handbooks, heritage certificate, V5C document, and a small collection of invoices for previous maintenance. Also included with the vehicle, are the original wheels, a tonneau cover, and a car cover.

The Interior

  • Restored interior
  • New carpets
  • 3-spoke Moto-Lita steering wheel
  • Walnut burr trim
  • New dials
  • Great condition
The interior of this TR6 is in excellent condition, having been previously restored with new carpets, retrimmed seats, and new door cards. There are of course incredibly minor signs of wear to note, particularly with the driver’s seat as pictured. The passenger seat, on the other hand, shows far fewer marks, having seen significantly less use.
The new carpeting throughout the vehicle is of course, in excellent condition, as are both door cards. The dashboard and accompanying trim pieces follow suit, showing only the expected minor swirl marks and minor signs of use.
Although hardly the most technology-packed interior, buyers will be pleased to know that all instruments and gauges work exactly as intended. The dials benefit from a recent rebuild courtesy of the current keeper and look fantastic for their age.

The Exterior

  • Old English White exterior
  • 15” wire-spoke wheels
  • Vinyl hood
  • Original wheels are included
As the images reflect, this TR6 appears to sport its original finish, or at least hasn’t received a respray in quite some time. As such, there are instances of surface corrosion to note. Areas such as panel seams and the lower sills appear to show their age the most, along with minor corrosion peaking through on the arches. That said, the timeless styling of the TR6 still shines through, and any defects certainly don’t detract from the vehicle’s impressive performance.
The car currently sits on a beautiful set of 15” wire wheels, as fitted by the current owner. The wheels are in excellent condition with only a few minor blemishes and suit the vehicle perfectly. If the wire spokes aren’t to your tastes, worry not as the original wheels will be included with the vehicle on collection.
Exterior trim and details present themselves rather well for their age, with only a few minor blemishes. Brightwork and chrome components offer plenty of shine, with seemingly only the expected minor pitting, which is hardly uncommon for their age.

Overall, this TR6 offers a brilliant canvas to style as you please. You can either opt to retain the current patina or use this as a base for your next restoration project. Either way, this classy roadster will no doubt fill you with pride upon each glance.

The Mechanics

  • Drives brilliantly
  • New anti-roll bar
  • New radiator
  • New master cylinder
  • New fan
  • New horn
  • New handbrake
  • New discs & pads
  • Recently serviced
This is where this TR6 truly shines, in the performance department. Despite its age, the TR6 is still more than capable of embarrassing plenty of modern cars, and is very well suited to vanishing from sight on a twisty B road. This particular example is of course no exception, and will gladly impress even to this day.

As the above list suggests, the vehicle has been rather well maintained over the years, receiving parts & mechanical repairs where required. As such, the vehicle now performs without a single known fault and is ready to be enjoyed out on the open road.

Summary

Presented today is an excellent opportunity to enjoy one of the finest classic roadsters ever produced. Even to this day, the TR6 still continues to impress drivers and other road users with its performance, and is a vehicle that deserves to be driven by any enthusiast.

This particular example shows a remarkably low 57,415 on the clock, with just 4 previous owners. The vehicle has also been well maintained over the years, and now performs exactly as intended, ready for the next lucky owner.

If you’re looking for a low mileage TR6 for your next weekend toy or potential restoration, this is a great example.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £9,999 £100.00
£10,000 to £49,999 £250.00
£50,000 to £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

Pre-authorisation

We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
