The Appeal

If you know the 105 GTV you know that these are some of the most sought after classic Alfas around.

Providing the tell tail Italian ‘fizz’ they are perfect for use both on the road or on the track. With all the love and attention that this example has received over the past two decades, it will be a perfect addition to your garage.

The current owner has put a lot of time, money, and effort into sourcing the right parts from the right people, and as such it is amazing on the road.

The History and Paperwork

  • Interestingly this Alfa didn’t have the most traditional of starts
  • You may expect it to go straight to the UK or another European country upon delivery, however, this car went to the sunny and dry climate of Kenya
  • The climate has probably saved this Alfa from an untimely demise thanks to the rust issue.
  • To help prove this, there are a lot of Kenyan documents such as the original service book, invoices, and registration documents
  • Speaking of registrations, the original reg plate is still in the book
  • The car comes to the UK in March of 1990 and has since bounced between a few owners until it landed in the lap of the current owner in 2004
  • Since then they have taken the car back to a bare shell and rebuilt it completely, the list of new parts is huge
  • They feature, new floor pans, a full wiring loom, a Harvey Bailey suspension kit, adjustable rear Koni shocks, a new fuel tank, a head gasket, new timing chain, brake bias unit, a 123 ignition distributor, a professional diff refurb, Superflex bushes, electric fuel pump and a rear wheel bearing
  • It is nearly endless, we will touch on other new parts as we go through the listing
  • As you can tell it has been built into a road/track car, it performs effortlessly on both, using a lot of specialist parts and parts from legendary Alfaholics
  • The majority of the paperwork has been photographed and you can find it within the gallery
  • One of the most important pieces of paperwork is an email from the Alfa Romeo Museum that proves that this car is indeed a numbers matching car
  • With such an amazing history, and file to back it up, this is a wonderful example of a rare Italian stallion
  • This is now your chance to add this extraordinary car to your collection, you won’t regret it

The Interior

  • New black vinyl seat covers
  • Solid boot floor
  • New headlining

Upon opening the door, you are met with a very well presented interior, as part of the rebuild process a lot of the interior was cleaned up or replaced.

When you sit within this classic Alfa it is like travelling back in time, it is made even better when the cacophony of noise produced by the engine encroaches into the cabin.

If we start by looking at the seats, we can see that they are presented in very good condition indeed. This could be because of the fact that the vinyl covers for the seats have been replaced during the rebuild. Thanks to this work they are lovely to sit in and watch the world go by.

There are lots of lovely little features within this interior that you will be happy to hear are presented very well, the wood dash that spans across the entire dash looks great with no obvious signs of sun bleaching or delamination and it still wears its 2000 badge with pride. The steering wheel is another feature that looks wonderful indeed.

Along with new seat covers, we also have a new headliner, new door cards, and new rubber door/boot seals. The latter means that you have to shut the doors firmly, but it does have the added bonus of keeping any water out.

The all-important Jaeger dials that sit in front of you are presented in great, fully working condition, they even still illuminate during low light as well. If you look to the left of the dials at the plastic dash, you can see a slight crack which is apparently very common for these cars.

Once you have finished with the cabin you can make your way round to the back of the car and find the boot. Unsurprisingly, this too is presented very well.

Within the boot, you will find the original jack that came with the car 50 years ago. Under the boot carpet, there is a spare wheel and an incredibly clean boot pan.

These cars are known for rusting in this area but, as you can see from the photos, this car is very solid back here.

Overall, the interior of this beautiful Alfa is in amazing condition. This area of the car will hold many happy memories for you in the future as your road trip or race this Alfa across the world.

The Exterior

  • Pair of Cibie spots will come with the car
  • Two sets of wheels – road & track
  • Original chrome bumpers are also supplied

What a beautiful looking car this is, with its round headlights and distinctive triangular grille it was destined to be a classic from the day it left the factory. This example has been well looked after externally and it is presented for sale in great condition indeed.

As we know the story of this car started in Kenya. It is probably thanks to the hot and dry climate they have that it has survived this well. When the re-build started in around 2004 it was taken back to bare metal and the shell was found to be in amazing and original condition.

The floor pans were replaced so this is something you won’t have to do this job any time soon. When the car was 100% solid again it was sent off to get a full re-spray inside and out. Today this paintwork is still stunning.

To match the paintwork, all of the brightwork is also in incredible condition. The current owner was very honest in pointing out that there is a slight area of corrosion around the inner edge of the boot lid, but for an Italian car of this age that is excellent.

The car was photographed without its original chrome bumpers, but don’t worry, these will come with the car when you collect it. It will also come with two Cibie spotlights to add to the Italian design flair.

The iconic pepper pot style original Alfa wheels are all in great condition and are fitted with four matching Bridgestone tyres. There are also another set of wheels that have more track focused tyres fitted to them that will also come with the car.

This little Alfa looks stunning from every angle and It will look amazing sitting in your collection or on the track.

Wherever you wish to display the car be in no doubt that it will look amazing.

The Mechanics

  • Countless mechanical work undertaken
  • Runs beautifully
  • Original engine – Numbers matching

This is the section where this Alfa comes into its own. A lot of time, money, and effort has been put into sourcing the best possible parts from Alfa Romeo specialists.

The engine for instance is the same engine that this car left the factory with, it has been compression tested and recorded great readings. The numbers have also been confirmed by the Alfa Romeo Museum in Italy.

This engine is still in wonderful condition, it started first time on the day of the photographs, but it was mentioned that it has a racing battery fitted so you may wish to keep it on trickle charge if you don’t use it too often. It also produces a lovely soundtrack through the exhaust that is almost addictive.

There was some work undertaken on the engine during the rebuild process which includes a new head gasket, new timing chain, water pump, and a new electric fuel pump. To make sure the engine is fed with an effective spark a 123 distributor and new HT leads.

Once the engine was sorted attention turned to the suspension, this has seen a lot of work indeed. A Harvey Bailey handling kit was supplied by EB spares, this included a thicker front anti-roll bar, new springs ad new Koni shock absorbers (the rears are adjustable).

Italian cars are known for having some rather interesting electrical systems. To help put your mind at ease a completely new and modern wiring harness has been fitted to this Alfa to make sure it is 100% all of the time.

Unsurprisingly the brakes have also received a bit of work, but they may require a bit more use to make sure they are properly effective. The offside rear calliper has recently been replaced.

During the rebuild, the current owner did correspond with the legends at Alfaholics, and they advised to remove the brake servos to give the pedal more feel through the pedal. Don’t worry though, the original servos will come with the car along with a lot more spare parts.

Overall, this Alfa is in amazing mechanical condition, and it is just waiting for you to take it on some of the best adventures of your life.

This is a wonderful car to experience on the road and we imagine that it should be just as good out on the track too.

Summary

We all know the famous quote about not being a true petrol head until you own an Alfa Romeo, and this example could well be the best Alfa Romeo out there at the moment.

With so much work completed during its lengthy rebuild you just can’t go wrong with this car.

Over your ownership, it should always bring a smile to your face as this is all about smiles per gallon.

Don’t miss out on this amazing car.

About Max Bids

Anti-sniping

C&C prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.
Auctions are extended by 3-minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £10,000 £100.00
£10,000 to £50,000 £250.00
£50,000 to £100,000 £500.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.
