1972 Triumph TR6 PI

Highlights

  • Factory standard 150bhp car with PI system
  • Thick history file of maintenance
  • Triumph-enthusiast keeper
  • New steering rack, calipers, water pump & head gasket
  • Smart white over black colour scheme
  • Very tidy car that is ready to enjoy

The Appeal

The TR6 was the last of a certain type of simple, brutal Triumph sports cars. UK buyers arguably got the best version, equipped with fuel injection and good for 150bhp.
No surprise, then, that good examples remain popular with open top enthusiasts. This one is part of a small Triumph car collection and is pleasingly factory original, including the PI system and smart white and black colour scheme. It is in good condition and fitted with more comfortable MX5 seats.
The car has been well maintained. Recent work includes a new steering rack, brake callipers, hubs, brake master cylinder, water pump, and head gasket. It is said to drive very well, with that distinctive soundtrack so beloved of straight six TR fans.

The vendor tells us:
“The engine performance is fantastic and the sound will put a big smile on your face. The replacement steering rack provides a very accurate drive. The replacement brakes pull equally on both sides and, together with the matching set of tyres, bring this powerful car to a halt comfortably.
“I always wanted a TR6, they are a stunning design. However, I have a Triumph Stag and when the sun is out they both compete for a day out (the Stag wins as the seats in the back accommodate friends and family). This is a reluctant sale. But keeping it would be over indulging - best that this beautiful TR6 gets the exercise it deserves.”
