The Appeal

If you are looking for one of the best examples of an American muscle car, then look no further than this extensively restored Dodge Dart Swinger. The current owner has put a lot of time, money, and effort into making this Dart into what it is today.

Thanks to all of this work it will now sit pride of place within your collection, and it may even win a few shows during your ownership.

The History and Paperwork

  • This car started its life across the pond, in the United States of America
  • It is documented as only having one owner throughout all of its time in America
  • After spending its life stateside it was imported into the UK from Carolina in 2017
  • It is then registered for use on the UK roads all within the same year
  • During the current ownership, it has been through an incredibly extensive restoration
  • The engine and gearbox have been removed and completely rebuilt
  • The bodywork was stripped back to bare metal
  • Once it had returned to a bare shell it should be noted that the bodywork was perfect, with no welding required at all
  • It was then sprayed in the colour code GF3, or light green amber Sherwood metallic, a factory original colour
  • Another point to be noted is that this paint had not been polished after, the paint is presented ‘off the gun’ and is still amazing
  • To match the exterior condition, the engine and gearbox were detailed before they went back into the car
  • All of the chrome was then sent off to be re-chromed
  • To finish it all off, the wheels were sent to the sandblasters and repainted to match the exterior colour, and don’t they look amazing
  • It is now your chance to benefit from all of this work, all you have to do is transfer ownership and you’ll be on your way
  • There will never be a dull moment with this Dodge Dart

The Interior

  • Incredibly clean
  • Stinger embroidered carpets
  • One of the best interiors
  • Finished with great attention to detail

As you have probably gathered from the details about the restoration, the current owner knows how to restore a car properly. The interior is no different, from front to back it is presented in immaculate condition and will be the best place to sit and watch the miles tick on by.

The seats fitted to this Dodge look large and comfortable with enough space for you and all of your family/friends. Both the front and rear seats are covered with this lovely combination of vinyl and fabric, the dark green complements the exterior well and the combination of the stripey fabric makes for a bit of occasion in this classic interior.

Below the seats, and throughout the car, there is a very well-presented dark emerald green carpet. As you’d imagine with a car in this condition, the carpets are in great condition indeed. These are further protected by a set of thick carpet over mats that will continue to protect these carpets long into the future.

Sitting in front of the driver you have a great-looking, thin rimmed, steering wheel. It is with this wheel that you will create so many happy motoring memories throughout your ownership as you travel from show to show to present your wonderful Dodge Dart.

Just behind the steering wheel is of course the full width dashboard, this too is in amazing condition. The dials for the driver are nice and clear showing all of the vital driving information, this condition Is mirrored by the period correct radio that sits just in the middle of the dash. The dash top has then been finished in a corresponding green leather, not only does this look good, but it will also prevent any nasty cracks that you may find in other classic cars.

You won’t be surprised to hear that even the boot is presented in immaculate condition. It has also been finished in the same colour as the exterior and is just as clean. The boot is lined with a PVC like liner and hides the spare wheel which can be found secure underneath. This spare wheel matches all of the others too.
What an incredible interior this is, a lot of effort has been put into making it as good as new. The seats look big and comfortable, and with the rest of the interior being so clean, you will never want to get out of this Dart.

The Exterior

  • Full bare metal respray
  • No welding needed
  • Colour matching wheels
  • Incredible finish
  • A true head turner

Is there anything more iconic than an American muscle car from this era? The lines across all of the exterior are beautiful and are only enhanced by the wonderful paint job that it now wears with pride. The small white detail across the rear quarters gives it that proper classic look for sure.

As we have mentioned before this example has undergone a complete exterior restoration. To begin with, everything was stripped off and the parts went their separate ways to some of the best specialists in the UK.

The body went off to a very competent spray shop. They took it back to bare metal and were astonished to discover that the body was near perfect. No welding was needed to bring this car up to this condition. It was then sprayed in this beautiful colour, Sherwood Green, this is a Chrysler colour with a code of GF3 if you’re interested. Doesn’t it just look stunning sitting there in the photos? To match the body, work the wheels were sent off, sandblasted, and resprayed in the same colour.

A key element to any classic is of course the chrome. Luckily for you, this was taken off and sent to another brilliant establishment who have re-chromed it incredibly well. You could quite easily lose a lot of time polishing these bumpers throughout your ownership.

The incredible condition doesn’t stop with the panels that you can see. Lift the bonnet and you are presented with a very clean engine bay indeed. From the painted engine bay to the engine that has itself been painted too. It is almost clean enough to eat off of. This is a level of detail that you rarely see on restoration, so this should be yet another clue that this one has been done properly.

There is no doubt that the exterior of this Dodge is in amazing condition. wherever you wish to display this car, you will always have a crowd of admirers. There really is nothing quite like a slice of Americana on British roads.

The Mechanics

  • Full engine out rebuild
  • Gearbox also rebuilt
  • Drives very well

If there's one thing American cars are known for it's what sits under the large bonnets, and this example is no different. Under the ‘hood’ of this classic, you will find a big 3.7l engine that has enough grunt to pull you down the road nicely, whilst also producing a great soundtrack. Power is fed to the rear axle through a comfortable automatic gearbox.

To further add to the appeal of this example both the engine and gearbox have been removed and rebuilt. Thanks to this it now drives amazingly on the road, with the current owner saying it is one of, if not the best, driving car that they have ever owned. A pretty amazing complement for a car that’s approaching 60.

With the vital mechanical parts having some sort of work during the restoration you shouldn’t have to worry about costly rebuilds for a while yet. This means that you can get on and enjoy your new toy. These cars love to be driven, so do it, you won’t regret it.

Summary

Well to summarise, this might just be the best Dodge Dart in the country, nay, the whole of Europe. The current owner has spent a lot of time and money to make sure that it is up to their standard and this shows. Wherever you go with this car throughout your ownership you will be smiling like a Cheshire cat.

Don’t miss out on this chance, one this good may never come up for sale again.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.
Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

C&C prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.
Auctions are extended by 3-minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £10,000 £100.00
£10,000 to £50,000 £250.00
£50,000 to £100,000 £500.00
£100,000+ £1000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.
You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you’re able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
