1974 Kawasaki H2/B

Highlights

• Comprehensive three year restoration
• Matching numbers authenticity letter by Kawasaki supplied
• Rare vintage performance air cooled

The Background

1972 saw the introduction of the Kawasaki 750 H2, with its two stroke engine it was the fastest way to get to zero to the national speed limit, and on the autobahn it would hit 126mph. With 74 bhp it was on par with the car of the moment the Ford Capri 1600L but so much lighter and agile, this was the bike of an era of Japanese performance bikes with retro styling.
From a standing start the bike would produce a quarter mile in just 12 seconds, being air cooled made it stand out from the crowd, it also gave a compliant ride making it a good GT bike as well for longer journeys.

The History

The bike has been subject to a thorough and sympathetic three year restoration by the owner, with new paintwork, and completely restoring the mechanical and electrical components.

The seller is a motorbike rider, restorer and has more projects waiting to be done in his workshop, hence the sale of this stunning classic bike.

The Paperwork

A wealth of paperwork is supplied showing the renovation works carried out, cosmetically and mechanically. There is an authentication certificate from Kawasaki confirming the matching numbers.
All paperwork will be applied with the bike, this backs up the high level of care and attention the seller has put in to restoring this iconic motorbike.

The Exterior

With new paintwork and a thorough restoration the bike is as fresh as you would expect, new Avon tyres, original spoked wheels with the embossed Takasago stamp inside the rims showing there authenticity.
Original clocks and complete mounts have been refurbished by Alan Smith, a renowned bike restorer, he has also completely refurbished the switchgear as well. Top yokes and mounts have been polished to a new standard. The frame and ancillaries have been stripped and stove enamelled.
Bare metal parts have been re-zinced and re-chromed. The original petrol tank in Candly Lime green paintwork has been stripped, zinc etched and using original colour and accurate Rick brett decals. Free of dents or any rust. The seat is a brand new reproduction unit, not original but supplied by Adrain Critten and is accurate.

The Mechanics

Engine completely stripped and rebuilt by Gary Clark, vapour blasted, crankshaft rebuilt, new seals and bearings, rebored and new Wossner pistons and rings fitted, new clutch plates, inlet rubbers, clutch lifter, rods, small ends – still running in.

Carbs and fuel filter completely vapour blasted, cleaned and rebuilt, with full “off” position by Mark Speaight. Setup with full airbox and filter. New clutch, throttle and choke cables fitted.

All frame and mounting bolts greased on assembly. Mixed original, new zinc and new stainless minor fixings. New 2Stroke oil delivery line (clear).

This bike has oil in the transmission, forks, and front brake. This bike has never had petrol or 2stroke oil fitted, never run since rebuild, effectively as new. The list is endless to the care and attention that has gone in to this restoration and the wealth of paperwork backs this up.

It has never had petrol or two stroke oil fitted, never run since rebuild so effectively you are buying a new bike.

The Appeal:

If you missed out the first time round then this Candy Lime H2F could be the piece of machinery to rekindle that love affair of this out and out speed machine.

Lovingly restored by a true bike enthusiast and ready to be collected in its new condition.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £9,999 £100.00
£10,000 to £49,999 £250.00
£50,000 to £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

Pre-authorisation

We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
