Highlights

 • Low mileage example
 • Gorgeous blue paintwork
 • Fantastic condition
 • Comprehensively restored

The Appeal

The MG Midget is one of the most iconic British sports cars made to date and is highly regarded by enthusiasts worldwide. As the name implies, it’s a rather small package but is packed with character and provides a truly enjoyable experience.
This particular car has only covered a mere 26 thousand miles, making it the perfect candidate for a low-mileage future investment. This Midget also performs fantastically, has been very well maintained, and requires nothing to be enjoyed.

The History and Paperwork

 • Just 26,387 miles on the clock
 • Garage stored
 • Restored example
 • Plenty of paperwork
 • V5C document present
 • Original handbook
 • MOT valid until May 2023
This MG Midget is truly a special example, having covered a remarkably low number of miles throughout its life. As the rare blue paintwork would suggest, the previous owner decided to treat this tiny roadster to a restoration around 2008.

The paint job was carried out by Neil and Anthony Greenhouse’s business, who are renowned for working alongside Top Gear star Richard Hammond in the past. In addition to the snazzy new paint, all mechanical components were stripped down and rebuilt by the previous owner, as the extensive paperwork will reflect.

Key items to note include a reconditioned engine, gearbox, new suspension, a brake overhaul, and much more.  Upon completing the restoration, the previous owners had the car MOT tested in 2014 at 23,548 miles.
The car’s care-filled past continued with the current keeper, who has done a fantastic job at maintaining the vehicle, ensuring it remains in the superb state presented today. Now, the vehicle is being sold due to lack of use, and eagerly awaits a new home where it will hopefully be enjoyed more on the roads.
In terms of paperwork, this MG comes with a tremendous collection to browse through. Included are invoices for previous parts and labour, including detailed invoices for aspects of the restoration process.

Also included are previous MOT certificates, which help verify the vehicle’s extremely low mileage, and the V5C document. As an added bonus, the paperwork also includes the original handbook and a retro photo of the vehicle many years ago.

The Interior

 • Black leather interior
 • Superb condition
 • 3-spoke steering wheel
 • New carpets
As the name would imply, the interior of this roadster isn’t exactly known for its vast amounts of space and luxury comforts. Instead, it’s a minimal cockpit, with the sole focus being on providing an engaging top-down driving experience. That being said, the interior of this Midget is not without its charm and is a truly pleasant place to be.
In keeping with the rest of the vehicle, the interior is in superb condition, benefitting from years of care. Both seats are in excellent condition, with no noticeable signs of wear. The dashboard, steering wheel, gearstick and door cards follow suit, showing off a near-flawless finish.
As the car benefits from a new carpet set, you’ll be exceptionally hard-pressed to find a speck of dirt or fault with how the car presents itself. All dials and controls are also in full working order, and show absolutely minimal signs of wear on contact points.
Overall, the interior of this MG Midget is near-spotless, and can hardly be faulted.

The Exterior

 • Professionally painted by renowned specialists
 • Excellent condition
 • Hardtop included
 • Silver Rostyle alloys
 • New soft top
This lovely Midget is finished in a colour that is seldom seen on MGs, but it certainly wears it perfectly. Having only been restored around a decade ago, the paint still looks fantastic, showing only minor signs of the typical age-related marks one would perhaps expect.

All chrome and trim pieces are in a similar condition and retain a great deal of their shine. Badging and lights follow suit and contrast well against the popping blue paintwork.
Being a roadster, it should come as no surprise that the folding roof is a key part of the Midget’s charm. The new roof folds away perfectly and is in full working order, having only seen daylight a mere handful of times since being fitted. If top-down motoring isn't your thing, the car also includes a hardtop ready for the lucky new owner to fit.
The car sits pretty on a set of Rostyle alloy wheels, which are finished in silver paint. Although these are quite a refreshing change from the typical painted black Rostyle wheels, the new owner can customise these wheels to their taste without much hassle or cost at all. All 4 wheels are in excellent condition, with plenty of tyre tread left to enjoy in the summer.

The Mechanics

 • Drives beautifully
 • Stainless steel exhaust
 • 4-Speed manual gearbox
 • 1491cc engine
 • Well maintained
 • Dozens of new parts
 • Requires nothing to be enjoyed
Don’t let its size fool you, the MG Midget is notorious for sneaking up on higher-powered cars due to its fantastic power to weight ratio and spirited handling. They seem to sit perfectly on the border of being a classy sports car, and B road hooligan, making them a truly enjoyable vehicle to own.

Buyers will be pleased to hear that this feisty roadster starts up straight away, and performs without fault. The peppy 1500 engine roars to life, pulls well through each gear, and provides a truly tasty soundtrack through its stainless steel exhaust.
As the vehicle was treated to a full restoration during its time with the previous owner, the car now benefits from a host of new parts, such as a reconditioned gearbox, reconditioned engine, new brakes & pipes, new suspension, reconditioned back axle, new rack & pinion, a new battery, a full set of new tyres and much more.

It should go without saying that this little MG needs absolutely nothing to be enjoyed out on the open road.

Summary

The MG Midget is the absolute perfect classic vehicle to enjoy the upcoming summer with, unless you’re 7 foot tall perhaps. This particular example is in superb condition, benefits from a thorough restoration, and drives without fault. With how few miles the vehicle has covered throughout its life, this Midget is also the ideal candidate for those for an incredibly low mileage classic.

With Summer on the horizon, this MG Midget is a perfect contender for the best British roadster to enjoy the sunny roads with.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £9,999 £100.00
£10,000 to £49,999 £250.00
£50,000 to £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

Pre-authorisation

We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
