The mighty MGB is one of Britain's best selling sports cars with over half a million variants produced from 1962 until 1980 and of those only 2,591 were powered by the 3528cc V8.
The nimble coupé is both a soft, gentle cruiser and brutish brit with the addition of the light alloy V8 engine, a perfect combination of power, noise and comfort, providing enormous enjoyment and miles of fun.
An extensive restoration in the early 1990’s and thorough care since have kept this rare factory V8 MGB in excellent condition, a truly fine example of the British classic that has comfortably toured to Le Mans and back without skipping a beat.
The History and Paperwork
Restoration carried out in the early 1990’s
Gearbox & engine overhauled
Two new front wings
Waxoyled
Manufactured in April 1975 and registered 1st January 2016, this ‘rubber bumper’ variant of the famous MGB GT has been in the ownership of 7 individuals prior to becoming acquired by the current owner in 2015.
The previous owner purchased this vehicle in 1991 from an RAF engineer, who was using the vehicle as a daily driver and roughly 98,000 miles had been covered. A 12 month restoration of the vehicle was then commissioned, with multiple elements of the car being striped, inspected, rebuilt or renewed.
Folders and folders of invoices and receipts for the work are present, alongside history prior to the restoration, past MOT certificates and a splendid note from the prior owner with details of all the work carried out.
The Interior
Splendid condition
Black leather & cloth seats
You feel very much at home inside any MGB GT. It's a pleasant and well put together layout and inside this MGB things are in very good shape, the seats and carpets are finished in black, with no signs of wear or damage anywhere, thanks to a restoration in 2018 where both seat trim, foam and carpet were renewed.
The dash is immaculate, gauges and dials are all operational and original, the radio has been replaced to an aftermarket Retrosounds variant, which includes bluetooth USB etc, not that you’d ever need it with that superb V8 soundtrack.
The Exterior
Citron Yellow
Great condition
Tiniest of blemishes
The MGB GT is a splendid looking car from all angles thanks to styling by the Italians Pininfarina. It's not surprising this is Britain's best selling sports car, with over half a million sold.
This one is finished in Citron Yellow, almost a mix of yellow and green and certainly stands out from the mundane coloured road traffic.
The car has a couple of very minor areas on the inner wheel arches where the paint has come away but no sign of anything else untoward. The general condition of the paint is great, the rubber bumpers look great and the wheels are unscathed.
The Mechanics
MOT until 2023
Factory 3528cc V8
Extensive work carried out during restoration
During our visit, the car was started and manoeuvred out of its storage unit slightly for the photographer, the enormous roar from the V8 is incredible, the Buick derived engine ticked over confidently and sounded powerful.
This is the ultimate MGB, class and brutish. The car has been taken one step further with modifications to the front brakes and front suspension plus additional tuning by Lloyds specialist developments, a renowned Rover V8 specialists.
An MOT was carried out at the end of May 2022, with no advisories. In 2017, a 5 speed Mazda gearbox conversion was carried out by Vitesse Global in Leicestershire. Additional work carried out in the current ownership includes
New stainless steel exhaust
5 Speed Mazda gearbox conversion
New spark plugs
New master cylinder
New 15’’ 8 spoke rally alloy wheels
Frontline developments front telescopic suspension and 5 link rear suspension conversion
123 ignition system installed

About Max Bids
The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.
Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.
Anti-sniping
Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.
Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.
Auto-bidding increments
If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.
Matching max bids
When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.
