The Appeal
The Ford Cortina needs little introduction. Once the UK's most popular car and sold in abundance. 1979 saw the release of the MKV, some 17 years after the MKI graced our roads. The MKV carried over many of the upgrades from the MKIV, notably the box like exterior styling, while the similar interior was a welcome sight for Cortina owners updating their models. The most notable differences are the front grille, flattened roof and larger glass area, all in the name of improved aerodynamics. Furthermore, improved rust protection over the MKIV means a good amount of MKV's still survive today. Like previous generations, the MKV was also available in a two-door, 4-door and estate format. An impressive feat for the MKV is that although being the fifth rendition of the Cortina, up until 1981 it was still the best-selling car in the UK. With 1982 seeing it slip only to second place!

The 4-door saloon variant offered great practicality with plenty of space and became a popular choice with families throughout the nation. This example retains many original features and has been very well looked after by the current owner. Previously receiving a full re-spray in Tuscan Beige, from a distance it certainly catches your eye. A subtle and thoughtful addition are the Wipac spotlights mounted to the front bumper, these give a nod to the sporty pedigree of the Cortina. This is a lovely example in very good condition overall which provides a great opportunity for the next owner to enjoy it furthermore!
