The Panda is the perfect example of Fiat doing what it has always done best - a small car, terrific value in its day, coupled with an enormous entertainment factor. Huge fun to drive, charming to look at and simple to maintain, the Panda was a Fiat built in the brand's finest tradition.
This one is very special indeed. A genuine low mileage car, it was completely rebuilt a decade ago and has been kept in storage since. But the rebuild was carried out in a very particular manner - with the exception of the body shell, for which great care was taken to find one that was completely rot free, the car was rebuilt from entirely new old-stock Fiat genuine parts.
It's an incredible thing, close to concours and definitely one for the collector.

As you'd expect, the Panda is gloriously simple inside, its thinly sprung seats covered in a grey check fabric that's in pretty good condition throughout, the only minor distraction being that the driver’s seat fabric isn't as tight as the rest. It's not something that really stands out, though.
The car comes with its original sliding ashtray and radio cassette player, with optional Fiat dashboard speakers. Otherwise, it's gloriously basic but presented in beautiful condition. It also has the advantage of twin folding sunroofs, which slide forward to give fresh air and a bright and airy feel to the cabin.
The boot area is particularly interesting as not only does it feature the original rubber mat and parcel shelf, but beneath the rubber there is a spotlessly unmarked boot floor.

Finished in standard Fiat white - or Bianca, from which the car gets its name - the condition of this car truly is something else. All of the panels are perfect with no dents or noticeable marks, the inner wings, the boot floor, the wheel arches, the sills and the panel edges all appear to be pretty much as new. Even the white plastic wheel trims and radiator grille are unmarked. You really will struggle to find a Panda in better condition than this.
When the car was restored, it was also thoroughly undersealed and the underbody coating is still in good order and is protecting the underside well, although the vendor wishes to point out that car hasn't been used in inclement weather since its completion.

Fiat's fully integrated robotised engine - or FIRE for short - is a lively little unit albeit quite a noisy one. That's absolutely fine, though, as in many ways it adds to the car’s character. It was a fairly advanced engine for its day and is renowned for being pretty reliable.
The unit has been well maintained during the vendor's ownership and prior to that by the car’s previous keepers. The seller reports that the Panda is in great working order with no known faults or issues.
If you're in the market for a 1980s classic with an enormous character, one that will be easy to own and is in potential show winning condition, look no further. This has to be one of the very best Pandas on the market right now and is probably as good as you're ever going to find.
