The Background

The E30 BMW 320i was produced from 1982 to 1991. The cars were renowned for their very smooth driving experience with well balanced steering and a nimble chassis, allied to the 2.0 litre version of BMW’s classic straight six engine.

The SE model came equipped with luxurious extras such as leather seats, electric sunroof and windows, alarm system, integral fog lights and rear passenger headrests and centre armrests and a rear sun blind.

A reputation for excellent build quality and reliability also came as standard on the 320i, meeting BMW’s slogan of the era as the ‘Ultimate Driving Machine’.

The History

This BMW E30 320i SE has the rare and highly desirable metallic Royal Blue exterior and a full leather interior.

The car was built on 6th April 1988 and was under single family ownership for the first 25 years of its life. The car has been in the possession of the current owner since 2018 and comes with an extensive and full BMW service history and verified mileage of a little over 103,000 miles.

In very nice condition upon purchase, it has been used regularly for short local drives and excursions during the current owner’s possession and has always started easily and performed flawlessly. This car has never been restored, but maintained in good condition throughout its life.

The car will come to its next owner with a full year’s MOT and in date for service.

The Paperwork

The V5 shows 4 owners from new and there are 2 sets of original keys.

The Owner’s handbooks supplied new with car are all present and correct and include the stamped BMW main dealer service history from new until 2006, after which it was serviced by local specialists.

The thorough history file contains every MOT certificate and every single invoice for work on the car throughout its life.

The Interior

The entire interior is in very good overall condition with tan leather, seats and upholstery showing little or no signs of age and use, being clean, fresh and very welcoming. Even the carpets and original over-mats are in a very nice condition.

The dashboard and fascia are all free from marks or any damage and the addition of a BMW M-Tech steering adds a subtle sporty feel.

The boot is carpeted, dry and clean and contains the spare wheel, jack and full original tool-set.

The Exterior

Never restored, the bodywork and Royal Blue paintwork are original and in similarly very good condition, as are the chrome trim and badges. The rubber door and window seals are a deep black and still nicely flexible and the black bumpers and rear spoiler still retain a nice black finish.

There are some scratches in the paint on one of the panels and neighbouring wheel arch and the odd stone chip at the front, but other than this it is hard to fault the external look of this car.

The BMW cross-spoke light alloy wheels, which have matched tyres with plenty of tread, are in very good condition with no curbing marks or scuffs to talk of and they certainly finish off the overall look nicely.

The Mechanics

The car has required very little maintenance during the last few years beyond routine servicing, and the cambelt, tensioner and water pump were last changed in 2015 at 94,097 miles.

The car will be fully serviced ready for the next owner.

The Appeal

The BMW E30 3 Series is a great car to choose as a ‘modern’ classic car that will only continue to increase in value as the years pass by.

They are easy to live with as either a daily driver or special occasion car and are remarkably practical and a superb and rewarding drive.

They have an unsurpassed reputation for their build quality and durability and will remain a part of the 80’s motoring history forever, with their simple and clean lines adding to their timeless appeal.'

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £9,999 £100.00
£10,000 to £49,999 £250.00
£50,000 to £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

Pre-authorisation

We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
