The Appeal
Entering production in 1985, the Ford Granada Mark 3 was the latest incarnation of Ford’s business executive, luxury saloon which followed in the illustrious footsteps of a model first produced in 1972.
The one we have here is a bit of a time capsule, having been parked up in dry storage during 2006 before emerging and being re-commissioned in 2019.
Upgraded since with full leather interior, although the original GL cloth trim will be passed to the new keeper.

The interior of this Granada is in great condition, and having been changed to leather by the vendor, sumptuous too. The original interior will also come with the car should you wish to change it back to standard.
There is very slight cracking to the top of the dash & another on the rear shelf. Other than that, and a little scuffing to the driver’s seat leather, everything is in good order.
We’re informed that all electrics work as expected, the sunroof is sound and opens as it should.
There is a slight issue with the speedometer as it flickers occasionally. This has been diagnosed as a faulty gearbox sensor unit.
The Exterior
- Dark Blue paintwork
- Alloy Scorpio wheels ( inc spare ), also comes with 5 original steel wheels and plastic wheel trims.
Generally good throughout, although there is blemishes to all sky facing panels ie boot, roof and bonnet which have probably occurred during storage.
There is also a little bubbling around both rear arches. The glass appears to be in good condition along with most of the plastic trim items. The exception being the narrow trims which run along the front and rear bumpers as shown in the photographs. All the tyres appear to be in good condition.
The Mechanics
- 2.0 litre DOHC engine
- 5 speed manual gearbox
Underneath the bonnet, the engine bay appears clean and tidy.
When driven to the photoshoot, it started easily and settled into a quiet tick over. No clunks or bumps were noticed as speed bumps were negotiated. The vendor states that it drives well without issues and can return 42 mpg when taken on a reasonable run.
Summary
So, this Granada GL with Scorpio upgrades could just be the car you’ve been looking for.
Low mileage, well looked after by only 3 owners including the vendor, sunroof, electric windows and most of all, individuality, you’ll not come across many more on the roads, could well be worth a wave to other fellow enthusiasts.
