The Appeal

Produced from 1984 to 1998, the 9000 was Saab’s entry into the executive car market, following the well-received turbo 99 and 900 models.

The 9000 was developed as part of a shared platform between Saab and Fiat, known as the “Type Four”, yet stands unique from its Italian counterparts.
The 9000 was later succeeded by the Saab 95 but remains a rather significant and quirky vehicle from the lineup. Today, Saab 9000s are seldom seen on UK roads, with desirable Aero models being rarer still.

Despite their age, these cars are renowned for their reliability and practicality, making them the perfect contender for a quirky daily driver, or cost-effective project vehicle.

The History and Paperwork

  • 2 former keepers
  • Main dealer/ enthusiast mechanic servicing
  • Invoices for previous parts & labour
  • V5C document present
  • Original Saab handbooks
  • 2 Keys
This Saab 9000 Aero began life in 1996 and had been a dependable daily driver for just two former keepers, prior to arriving at its current home.

The previous owner had owned the vehicle since 1999, using it on a daily basis and maintaining the vehicle to a high standard. In fact, the previous owner is reported to have serviced the vehicle every 6000 miles, with quality Mobil 1 oil.
The vehicle then passed to the current keeper 3 years ago, where it has been stored as part of a collection. Now, the vehicle is ready to be enjoyed by its next lucky owner, where it will hopefully continue to serve as a reliable motoring companion, or make the perfect project car.
The vehicle’s paperwork includes the original Saab handbooks, including the service booklet which contains main dealer stamps prior to 1999.

Also included are a large number of invoices, that detail maintenance and servicing carried out by the previous owner, who thoroughly enjoyed keeping this Swedish gem in top health.

The V5C document is also present and is ready for the new owner to sign.

The Interior

  • Original black leather interior
  • Factory Aero package
  • Excellent condition
  • Electric heated seats
The interior of the vehicle presents itself fantastically and shows very few signs of use or age.

Both front seats are in excellent condition for their age, and could very easily suit a much newer, low-mileage vehicle.

In keeping with all other controls and electrical components throughout the vehicle, all seat adjusters and heated seat controls are believed to be in full working order.

The rear seats, on the other hand, appear to have hardly been sat in throughout the car's life and look absolutely superb after all these years.
The leather steering wheel and dashboard clearly benefit from years of care, and once again, are in a condition that would easily rival a much newer vehicle. All carpeting and headlining throughout the cabin follow suit, and helps provide a truly clean, tidy, and pleasant space for all passengers.
In the boot, you’ll find more clean carpeting and trim pieces, along with the original spare wheel, jack, and tools.

The Exterior

  • Silver paintwork
  • Original Finish
  • Iconic Saab styling
This Saab 9000 is in fair condition for its age and proudly wears its original Silver paintwork with pride.

As the photos reflect, the vehicle is beginning to show signs of rust bubbling on the front wings and is believed to show minor corrosion underneath. In addition to this, the front bumper shows a small battle scar on the driver’s side, and buyers can expect typical minor signs of age throughout the exterior.
Although this example isn’t quite a showroom-ready vehicle as it currently sits, it certainly makes up for it in other areas. With how dependable this Saab has been over the years, it would easily make the perfect daily driver for those looking for something a little different, without necessarily worrying about preserving pristine paintwork.
All 4 wheels also show their original finish and do so rather admirably, showing minor signs of age, and the usual curb rash you can expect from a high-mileage vehicle.

With the accessibility of modern wheel refurbishment businesses, these can easily be restored to their former glory without much cost. As the vehicle hasn’t covered many miles since having new tyres fitted around 3 years ago, there’s plenty of tread left to enjoy.

The Mechanics

  • Drives brilliantly
  • Excellent mileage
  • Forge blow off valve
  • K&N air filter
  • “Stage 1” tune, resulting in around 260bhp
  • Comfortable & quiet ride
  • Long MOT
  • Well maintained
Buyers will be pleased to know that this quirky Saab benefits from decades of attentive servicing, and still continues to perform brilliantly to this day.

The car starts up right away, happily keeps up with modern traffic, and is very well suited to comfortable motorway journeys or the daily commute. Other than an issue with 5th gear requiring a bit more effort to engage, the car has no known mechanical or electrical faults.
As the included paperwork will reflect, the car has been treated to everything as required over the years, including a mixture of regular dealer servicing and home-mechanic care.

A true testament to the car’s care-filled past is of course just how well the car drives and performs for its age.

This is certainly a car that deserves to be driven and enjoyed for years to come.

Summary

This quirky Saab 9000 Aero is a fantastic reminder of everything we love about old Swedish cars.

It’s practical, reliable, offers performance that still rivals modern vehicles, and will happily handle anything you throw at it without making a fuss.

Whether you’re looking for a project for the weekends, a dependable daily driver, or a quirky weekend toy, this Saab presents brilliant value for money, and will surely fill the new owner with pride.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £9,999 £100.00
£10,000 to £49,999 £250.00
£50,000 to £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

Pre-authorisation

We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
