The Appeal

Jaguar’s X300 XJ6 marked a return to the more traditional styling favoured by its core customer base at the time and, with its 3.2 litre straight six, is the perfect way to waft. The best examples are becoming increasingly collectable and you’ll struggle to find a better preserved car than this one. With just 23,785 miles on the clock, it’s hardly been used yet has been pampered all its life.
Indeed, it’s hard to find an area of the car that’s aged at all since it left the factory. The under bonnet toolkit is still in its cellophane wrapping, all the manuals and a brochure are there and it even comes with a branded bottle of champagne that was gifted to the first owner by the supplying dealer.

Opportunities like this rarely come up so if you’re a collector or indeed someone that fancies running a modern classic with only a couple of years’ worth of mileage on the clock, then get bidding now.

The History and Paperwork

• First owner kept it for a little under 10,000 miles
• Since then the car has passed on from one generation to the next, twice
• The second owner was a father, whose son inherited it and put into storage at marque specialist, JAGtechnic
• Run regularly, then fully recommissioned and acquired by seller’s father in law, who added fewer than 1500 miles before giving up driving
• Seller now offering it for sale as, despite being a Jaguar enthusiast, he prefers the GT cars
• Main dealer history up to storage
• Recommissioned by JAGtechnic
• Full set of invoices and old MOTs
• V5 in seller’s name, now on its previous plate J10 VJJ, as featured in the "Jaguar World Magazine" rather than those shown in the pictures
• Current MOT expires 6 September 2022

The Interior

• Cream leather
• Completely unmarked
• Everything works as it should
• First aid kit still in the boot
For a well-used car, cream can be a brave choice for the upholstery. Easily marked, it takes a lot of maintenance to keep it looking fresh. Here, however, we can see just how charmed a life this car has lived. For the comfortable cream leather seats look almost as good as new, the wood veneer is unmarked and even the carpets look like they’ve just left the factory. (The latter point is helped by rubber mats added over the carpet items to ensure that they continue to look pristine).
The headlining is clean, secure and taut and all of the buttons, switches and dials function as they should. This includes the radio (with automatic aerial) which is the only thing that’s not completely original on the car, having been swapped for a replacement unit when it came out of storage. The air conditioning blows cold, and the first aid kit is even still present in the boot. In short, it looks almost new.

The Exterior

• Stunning Sapphire Blue
• Regularly polished
• Cross spoke wheels
• Chrome mirror caps
Finished in a rich hue known as Sapphire Blue, the car is a real stunner. The paintwork has a deep lustre, the panels are all straight and there’s mirror-like chrome work to match. Some of its condition can be attributed to the care of the current owner who has polished it any time that it’s been out in the rain during his and his father in law’s ownership. But prior to that it must have been used very gently as there’s almost no signs of use. Underneath it’s the same story, with little to show for its age.
There are a couple of non-standard additions: the cross spoke alloys were an expensive option specified when the car was new, and the chrome mirror caps were added by the seller’s father in law who employed a main dealer to fit them at considerable expense. The wheels are pristine and wear tyres that have plenty of tread all round, although with such limited use it’s possible that they may be a little past their best before date at this stage. In all, though, it’s in remarkable condition and will justifiably make its next owner very proud.

The Mechanics

• Pristine engine bay
• Starts and runs faultlessly
• Ready to be enjoyed
As you’ve probably deduced from the condition of the rest of the car, it’s clearly not had a hard life. So it’s no surprise to learn from the seller that it drives as well as it would have done when it was new. Always kept on a trickle charger, it  starts first time and ticks over almost silently. It drives with supreme smoothness and the owner reports that it’s the quietest car that he’s ever driven.
Under the bonnet, it looks almost new and, indeed,  the tool kit that is under the bonnet is still wrapped in cellophane. A discolouration of the list of fuses is the only downside to what is otherwise a supremely well preserved car.

Summary

Almost like new, this is surely one of the finest surviving examples of an X300 XJ6. You’d be mad to miss out.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £9,999 £100.00
£10,000 to £49,999 £250.00
£50,000 to £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

Pre-authorisation

We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
